Does it make it more difficult to find a good paying job. Are potential employers able to find out whither or not you were diagnoised as learning disabled. Even with a college degree from an acredited school?

There is this disabled man at church. He is in a wheelchair. He has polio. Everytime I look at him or pass him I get all shaky and walk awkwardly (sp?) . I think it is because I feel that if he sees me doing things he can't do he would feel bad that he can't do what I'm doing. Is this a normal way to feel towards disabled people? And by the way I won't look at him because I think that he thinks I am staring at him because he is different. The funny thing is that I would love to go up to him and start a conversation, but I can't get myself to do that. I also think that he thinks I am mean because I don't smile or talk, but it is because I am extremely shy. I wish I could just tell him that and become friends. I don't know how to solve this problem. Please help me.

Seems like these vets are of a lower life form....just because
I managed to get through four years of military life during an unpopular war (Viet-Nam) and only come home with hi-pitch hearing loss due to flight line duty (which the VA denies
the claim)...now I have degenerative arthritis in both knees
and hips...I don't blame the service for this, but anyway, I'm
a very much disabled veteran...whether service connected
or not, but who wants to hear about an old fizzel and his
arthritis pain?

Perhaps sensitivity being what it is?

My search is not in condemnation as pity, but reality, where dellusion and denial are a reactionary act not fantasy?

Knowing some folk react and some deny, does yahoo answers formulate an area of forumn where we can remove our own questions? Hardly fair questions get removed for fears?

Coping skills are significant in mental wellness. An ounce of prevention worth a ton of cure, sure ban this question too?

Reality? Honesty, even if it hurts is a coping skill. Being balanced not just positive.

An ivory tower, was once used as China traded African Elephants to represent a place to store the dead ashes of relatives, a pagoda. In context, there is nothing offensive in being open to state, some create a false world to be able to cope, danger & folly are where this effects other folk too?

Society is reactionary, in fairness, yahoo can also allow questioners to remove their own questions too?

If society only reacts? Is it real & How?

I would like to live in florida for 6 months per year and have been asking about my medicade and food stamps with the local office with no luck.My question - I am on SSI and the cold winters in Indiana make it almost impossible to function so I would like to move to florida for 6 months per year.So does anyone have any real life knowledge on the process to transfer medicade and food stamps or if I even can do this!!
My local office says I could lose my benefits all together doing this but I have been told it may be possible.
Thank you for any advice!

Hello, I am a PhD student with a learning disability. I am a social worker and need some input for a application project at school. My hope is that the project will also be helpful and maybe a new agency to help others like myself. I created Learning Differently Network Support (www.ldns.org) I beleive it is time to expand and offer services. So I created this: http://www.ldns.org/lsa.htm
If you like it or do not like it, would love to know why and what is additionally needed in order to help others. Thanks! Anita

I know this might be a tad innapropriate question.. but since it is in the same category and since both groups essentially want equality what are your opinions? Are you on par for/against LGBT people? Do you feel that you have things in common because of the need for equality and respect and to be treated like everyone else?

My wife had a terrible experience. She saw people with disabilities being laughed and mocked by the moderators. When people stuck up the sick ones, the moderators ganged up on them, Other than that, my wife said it's a great board for BK, too bad the moderators SUCK! I told her leave pronto!
