Old people tend to get left behind when things need doing, if they need help with buying winter clothing they dont get any help from the benefits people, many dont get the home help they really need, and when they are in need of hospital care they often get left if they cant feed themselves. Old people are seen as some kind of burden and are thought of as not of in real need as they should have families to care for them, but many are without family so are in need of help. Disabled people need help too but their needs are more recognisable and more often than not their needs are met. I say all this with compassion for both but its what I have come across over the years and experience.

Society should care about everyone. Many disabled people are old!
I don't think it cares more. I just think it cares. Take a look at a parking lot for instance. A small number or parking spaces are for disabled and the biggest number is for able bodied people.
In years gone by and still today there are places that disabled people cannot get in or out of. Because there is still a very big problem and so much misunderstanding still Nick Parks is doing a new series of work aimed at disability in our society.
I had to use a mobility scooter for a while after an injury and it is amazing how many people ignore you, talk over you or pretend you don't exist. I always make eye contact with people with disabilites now and acknowledge their presence. This was a wake-up call for me!

Depending on who you ask. I'm disabled and I don't consider that to be an issue. Old people in my community are well cared for. To show how uncared for a disabled person is: I was in another area of answers and told everyone the reason I couldn't buy something, was because I was on SSI and the disabled are limited at $'s And an answer to my answer was Get a job and pay taxes you lazy nogood worthless tick. I reported him! People without a disability regret those that do have a disabilty. They hate having to pay us with thier taxes.

In my experience, society seems to only care about the old who are just becoming disabled and not the born or injured (early in life) disabled people. If you saw humans as animals, than the disabled person is the equivalent of a pests, bug, etc (you just want them to go away and you'll swat at them until they do) and the elderly would be like an old dog or cat (a lovable, cute pet) that you want to take care of until it dies.

Society today, in general, is such an uncaring bunch of people, especially the young. And our government, don't even get me started. They don't care about disabled or old. You know what else? They don't care about the rest of us either. They are and always will be a bunch of greedy bastards. I don't care which political party you're talking about.

Lets see in Canada seniors get a guaranteed income of no less than close to or $1200 a month. Seniors get free medical and free prescriptions. Seniors get subsidized housing and no less than THREE housing grants. Seniors get a reduction on property taxes. Seniors get a lot of discounts and fee reductions for services. They often get free education, no fees charged for seniors in a lot of colleges and universities.
Disabled people receive a guaranteed $600 a month, receive no housing grants, and there is no subsidized housing available for them. Disabled people have to pay for a lot their prescriptions and most of their services. They do not get "disability discounts" as related to "senior discounts". They have to pay for their own education unless they want to get a grade 12 diploma or train for some entry level menial labour job.
So in a word, NO. Disabled people are treated like lepers in most western countries, and have to fight the Government tooth and nail to get any benefits, seniors just have to show a birth certificate.

Society cares about nobody until it actually calls at their door.
The disabled and the aged are seen as third class citizens.
Not nearly as important as the rest of society.

Society does not care about either one of them. However, the elderly does have groups like AARP that does fight for their rights where is the disabled really don't have anybody to fight for us.

WHAT PART OF SOCIETY? THE ONES WHO MAKE THE LAWS OR THE ONES WHO DEMEAN DISABLED PEOPLE? AND TO BE OLD IS ALSO, TO BE DISABLED IN SOME WAYS. BUT TO BE OLD IS NOT ALWAYS TO BE DISABLED. BUT TO BE DISABLED IS EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS.
