Your wife is entitled to personal care allowance or someone caring for her is entitled to claim care allowance. The amount payable is according to the degree of disability,if she comes to middle or high care allowance she can claim severe disability from supplementary allowance. She can also claim mobility allowance, depending on age incapacity benefit.
These are just approx figs.Mobility=£44.00 Care Ala. £68.00 In comp. Ben. £86.00 Severe Dis £44.00 per week.each case is different, you should be able to claim help with commune.tax and heating if disability is circulatory related.
Check with citizens adv.or preferably social work dept. They will do what they can to help you and advise you on things that you were unaware of.Remember the figures I gave are for a single person IE amputee living on their own.At least you now know the ball figure your in.

There is a disability premium on Income Support. If you are in receipt of Income Support or you are entitled to it you and your wife will qualify for the premium. There are other allowances that you can claim like Invalid Care Allowance (ICA) Either go to your local DWP office and make an appointment to speak to someone about the benefits you can get or see someone at the Citizens Advice Bureau or check out the web site www.direct.gov.uk
There is help out there for people looking after a disabled person and we hope you get the help that you need. Good Luck.

You may be thinking about the age addition premium - Probably best to look at DWP info, just google it alternatively have a look at www.benefitsandwork.co.uk, there is a lot of very thorough and useful info on there, plus forums (answered by benefit experts) where maybe you could ask . It's difficult to answer because so many other things may affect the answer, housing benefit also has a disability premium, so not knowing your other circumstances, makes it almost unanswerable. If you google disability premium or severe disability prenium (SDP), you should find plenty of info, DLA is not necessarily the same, or all she is entitled to, there may be additions. Good luck

I am really not sure what you are asking. Are you asking about insurance premiums for disabled people? And what is a disability living allowance? I guess I am confused because I really never heard of a disability living allowance or premiums for the disabled. Are you talking about the cash amount you get each month? Please try again and state the question a little more clearly. Thanks!

Go and see the Citizens Advice Bureau, and ask to speak to the Benefits Advisor. There are several benefits and premiums on those you may already recieve, she may be entitled to, and you yourself should be able to get a care-allowance. If your house has been altered in any way (even if it is just making a bedroom downstairs) and it's in band B or above, then you should also qualify for a reduction in Council Tax.
Finding out just what benefits you are entitled to can be a bit of a nightmare as the DSS rarely give you this information.
Good Luck getting the financial support you need.

She will be able to get some premiums for being disabled, but I'm not too sure about what the rates would be for married couples. I'd ask the CAB, they have a benefits advisor who could tell you what you're entitled to. I'm single and get high care and low mobility DLA, I also get Incapacity Benefit and Income Support as with my premiums I can have an income of £145 a week. It was only someone who knew about the benefits I should be getting who told me, the DSS won't tell you what you're entitled to until you apply for everything.

You should be able to collect Social Security for her now. Check it out and see it that will help. Also, check with your agencies for the disabled and they can help you find out about funding and programs for both of you. You can get relief and a break with a personal care attendant. If your wife is totally disable, your medicare or medicaid will help cover most or all the cost. I hope you and find some answers. Good luck!

I am not from the UK and don't know anything about it myself, but I found this website you can check out: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/OtherBenefitsAndSupport/DG_068683
Edit: For all of my friends out there that are confused by the question, DLA (Disability Living Allowance) is the UK equivalnt of Social Security Disability here in the US.

I'm in receipt of DLA, but I'm afraid I really don't know what you are referring to by the use of the word 'Premium'.
You can ask as the CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau), or at any of the Job Centres where staff will help you out.
