Have you seen the software that puts the keyboard on screen and is used with a forehead pointer? Those are used by paraplegics and they have word prediction so they don't have to spell the entire word. People with shaky hands can get an over-sized mouse that is weighted. Software for the blind is ability too. Just Google: disability+"computer software" and that will take you to some interesting things.

My husband has a special computer (Lingraphic) that is filled with icons and storyboards. You click on one and it will say the word/sentence for him. It's designed for people with language disorders due to brain injuries and strokes. There are lots of different software for different types of language disorders, designed to be used for therapy.

Disabled people use the same computers that everyone else uses. I'm blind, as are many of my online and real time friends, and I am using an ordinary Gateway (though I'd prefer a Dell I think). The difference is I have certain software installed on my computer to make it accessible. ZoomText enlarges the text on the screen and allows me to adjust the contrast. JAWS converts text to electronic speach and allows me to navigate the computer with keystrokes instead of a mouse. There are other programs like JAWS that read what's on the screen (hense the name "screen readers"). WindowEyes is another one.

Heard of 'eye tracking' ? Look it up on the internet. Eye tracking is a very new and interesting technology wherein a person can use the computer and perform all functions with the help of his/her eyes.

This is obviously for the ones who are in no condition to use their limbs but have vision.

There are programs that will speak for blind people. There are programs where you can speak rather than type also.
