With all of this multicultural B.S. I feel that we in America are more like roommates than countrymen, until something bad happens like 9/11. You got all of these special interest groups that clearly state that they are only looking out for certain people. For exp. the congressional black caucus, the congressional Hispanic,etc.

throughout most of my school life, i never had black friends becsue they always made fun of me for actually having manners and talking propper english.

All of my life my mom taught me to represent my self in the best way possible, but instead im labled as the kid that thinks im "all that" just becasue im a bit anti-social in high school.

im also embarrased to be around other black teens in the subway becsause they usually act loud and obnoxious and im usually embarrased for them becsause im black too.

what do yall think i should do?

i am not mocking anyone but some names of black americans in my class are funny as hell and it is hard to spell but themselevs even their friends has problem spelling it. one girl name is shenicka and the list goes on and on. is this a conbination of african names plus english words or what. what is the point if no one else beside you can spell or proaunoce your name

One white guy posted "I don't want to be white, I want to be black". And in the earlier question I asked, also pertaining to race, a girl said she "is trying to be more like the sistas"...that she's white, but would rather have the looks of a black woman.!? Is there something "wrong" with being "white" today? And why do women not want to be white? Is it considered ugly? Uncool? Boring? Uninteresting? I never hear Black, Latin, Middle Eastern, and rarely Asian women say they want to be something else other than their race, I only hear white people, esp. white women, saying this. Are we programmed by society now, by pop culture, by media, to dislike being white and "whiteness"? Why this diff. in self-image and cultural embracement in white people from other racial groups? Why don't you ever hear a black woman say she wishes she were white? Not that she should, but why is it just white people that want to change their race or look "more like another race"?

why do some whites tell muslims, gays, blacks , asians, hispanics, jews and native americans to get over stuff? When I go to suburbs, they are isolated. many about .0007% minorities and when a minority moves in, WHITES move out. I heard a lot of whites tell "JEWISH JOKES" and it bothers me. When I go back to my communities, few people make jewish jokes and stuff.
Why is it that when a minority moves in a community, whties move out even IF THE MINORITY IS QUIET AND HAS NOT CRIMINAL PAST?

Why can't they place themselves in their positions?

I'm black part native american and i'm part asian but i dunno if it shows in me..some people say it does.....people are quick to say that i look hispanic mostly by hispaincs...they say i look houndorian,cuban,and dominican;and even black people say that i look it and i feel like people don't except me as being just black. i guess cuz i'm part two things it must be very dominant but i'm so used to looking at myself i don't see anything different in my face and i think i look black,and when a boy in my class said that he was the only black person in my class i felt left out and he claimed without even asking me if i was hispanic or not,and many black people where i live don't claim hispanics as being black even if they say they are ,i feel like they don't think i look black;sometimes i try to cut me hair short or stop having me hair curly cuz of that...and try to darken my skin a little cuz its redish-yellow;i'm partically red so i standout from alotta black people dut to brown skin.

I want to see peoples opinions on those born again guys who take christianity to the extreme. I ask this bc i saw some born agains with signs in Las Vegas during New Years saying that God will judge Muslims, Roman Catholics, unsubmissive wives, drunkards, etc. from wat i saw everybody hated them.

I live in Oakland, CA. I frequently see young teenagers, especially African-American teenage girls (around Claremont Middle School and in some parts of Berkeley) wearing backpacks that seem specifically for younger kids (primary grades; K-3rd). I have seen these girls, and possibly even boys, with Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Spiderman, Superman, Strawberry Shortcake and various Princess backpacks. They are always small backpacks (about 16") and don't seem like they would be big enough for a middle schooler to fit all their stuff that they'd need for school.

- How do these backpacks fit into the lives of these teenagers I see?
- Do certain groups more than others tend to use them? (i.e. I've never seen Latino kids wearing them, but maybe they do.)
- Why?
- In what ways?
- What function do the backpacks serve?
- What do these backpacks tell us about these kids who use them?

I just heard it on the news. I can't believe that the parents are complaining that it's not fair and they sentenced the wrong people.... 9/10 were found convicted for beating the women..I just don't get how if it was 3 black girls and 10 white women, these same parents would be saying it was a hate crime? I feel my race is veeerryy confused... any opinions??
