This was a very good question sweetie, and I think it was brave of you to ask it. I'm a black female, and I'm proud to be one. However if I was born white I would be just as proud. We are what we are. These people should never want to be anything more. Being black doesn't make you cooler or better. It's just another race, but it's no better than all the other races. I strongly believe that we were all put into different races for a reason. Think of how boring this world would be if we were all the same race. I love every single race out here in the world. I feel that I can learn something different from all of them. I wish people could realize that we were put here to unify.

Perhaps because political correctness and excessive "equality" measures have marginalised this bracket of society? I know I've faced this when searching for jobs, where two HR staff apologised to me, saying I was by far the best candidate, but "we have to consider before you, all the candidates that are female, other races than white, transgendered or homosexual, and citizens". It was then that I had a passing question, were I to pose as a person of another race or culture, whether I'd have had a better chance at the job, but it wasn't a true wish to be anything other than the person I was born to be. Maybe these people feel that their own culture lacks definition, and is thus "uncool" or "not different enough". I remember feeling this at college when a girl commented "no wonder they don't have uniforms here, we all look the frigging same!" and it was true; I think fashion and "culture" put way too much pressure on people who so desperately strive to be individual, without really knowing who they are as individuals.

Some white women want to be another ethnicity because of several things. First of all, the "in" physical features now consist of ones typically considered "exotic", i.e. tanned skin, curvier backsides, fuller lips, etc. which most white women don't have naturally. (Look at some celebs that are considered gorgeous today such as Eva Longoria, Beyonce, Aishwarya Rai, Jennifer Lopez, and many others.) Many in other ethnicities do however, so they want to be part of those groups. It also has to do with personality stereotypes. Black women are known as having an attitude and being able to stand up for themselves, while white woman are considered very passive in general. Latinas are known as being fiery, and very sensual. White women are sometimes considered a bit bland. Asians are known for being intelligent, and that's not the first thing to come to mind with white women. (again, these are not entirely true. they are just stereotypes.) People need to realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and being or looking like a certain ethnicity doesn't automatically make a person beautiful. Each one has it's own unique, gorgeous traits. Also, personalities vary by person, not by race. There are meek black woman, loud white women, and virginal latinas in the world. Wanting to act like a certain group based on a stereotype is ridiculous.

The cool factor. They can never truly be black, because at the end of the day, they're white and will never fully experience what's it like to be black. Apparently they enjoy the cultural things about it, I see no harm in it, though I have never tried. At one when I was growing up being remotely related to being an Native American Indian was "cool," everyone suddenly was half Navaho, half something else, and totally into the culture, yeah, it was a long time ago. Nothing wrong with being "white," or anything else, as long as you're good to people, and have a kind heart. Chow

Many people say they don't want to be their own race. You can't change it, so love it.
I know some black people don't want to be black because, they hate the way many of us treat eachother which I understand, and because when it comes down to describing beauty, the darker your skin is, you are considered to mostly not be attractive, which black women who are dark skinned have a tough time dealing with, and those jokes on how black you are makes them hurt even more.
I think some white women who don't want to be white, it might be because they think different cultures have an exotic look to them, like Hispanic, or women of the Islands. I think also they don't want to be considered racist, because they are stereotyped for being racist when it's not true that all white people are racist.
People have different reasons, but I think it's majority based on what others think of them, which shouldn't matter.

People still do not get it. We are all one as a human race. So there are little differences, and you know, that s what makes everything interesting. The whole "i want to be black thing" I am not sure about that.. that is odd to me, since i have never heard a black person say "i want to be white" or a white person say "I want to be black". It is like me saying "I want a million dollars" and it is not ever going happen..lol Unless they are michael jackson and can spontaneously change colors (with the help of millions of dollars), that just isn't going to happen.
I was reading a few other posts, some on black supremecy and some on white. I just wonder if either race realize how stupid they sound and look when saying one race is better. My guess is they have no clue. Black people getting mad because they just KNOW they are better than white people, and white people who just KNOW they are better. All of that is retarded. I think the world would be a much better place if both sides of the supremecy spectrum just shut up and dealt with it their own personal issues of being black or white. Okay, you are black and proud get over it. Okay you are white and proud, get over it. Like when you meet someone they do not know what color you are? They just need to realize that black people know white people are proud of themselves and white people need to realize that black people are proud and get over that issue. It isn't like fighting for heathcare rights, you know.

I think its because with women...black women have became the more confident and sexy woman and i think white women want their body as far as being curvaceous without being fat. I also think alot of white people have self hate for being the priveleged class for so long and for being racist in many cases. White is just not seen as being very cool either . We come across stiff and dorky . Also, hip hop is the popular culture now so being black equates to being cool to alot of younger people. I think this is a very complicated question but some of the things above explain some of it but not all of it.

I can't answer that for you because i'm not white, but I think that everyone wishes that they could change something about themselves sometimes. I was friends with a guy that was NOT comfortable being black. He goes on into this rant about how black people have it harder... So there are other races wishing that they be another.

They just want what they don't have it is the same with other race. Some who aren't white hope they are white vice versa. It's just what most people want, they are not content on what is given to them.
