The English are not the most hated nation ever. They are often the most admired nation for all their achievements. People who hate the British are only jealous of the empire and the power the English have or had. All nations are hated for something. The Australians often recent that they have our Queen, but it is funny that 70% of Australians are of British ancestry. The Australians don't like anyone they have to compete with. The New Zea-lander and Canadians are very pro British from what I can make out. New Zealanders are not too hot on the Australians from what I can make out. People often admire or hate powerful countries and at this moment in time Americans are having a bad time of it, but people don't really hate the Americans, they don't like the Government. People are more exposed to American and English history by learning the language so they have more to criticize because they learn more about these countries, whereas the less significant countries that don't have power and never did have, don't have any influence on our lives, so we don't have strong views on them.
I don't like the Saudi Arabians culture because of the way they treat women, but I am sure that there are some great people living there.

I answered a similar question a few days ago but it was directed at the Americans. Are the English hated? Whoever is asking this question is speaking with inside knowledge. I have travelled under an English passport and I have met some lovely friends who perhaps didn't know this. If I accept that they are hated it must be because of their lack of humour or their pugnacity for they are the only things I have against them

No insult intended - but then it really doesn't matter. I am American and even I know that WE AMERICANS are THE most hated nation on the face of this Earth. And ISRAEL. In fact we are hated equally with Israel.

Its common knowledge. Where have you been? I am serious. The Brits are kinda just pished at us,The European countries - our very allies from all over hate us openly and its a no brainer that the entire Middle East hates our guts.

Ask the Canadians how they feel about America. Their leaders have made no bones about "those blasted Americans" .., and thats the cleaned up version of what they say.

You really need to get out more and read the news - or at least tune into CNN, FOX or MS-NBC.

The rest of the world is under the impression that we are selfish (even though we send billions in aid to other countries - they love our money but hate us).., they also look at America like an expensive prostitute who flaunts her charms and gloats about her wealth and looks. I can see how they view us like that. We alwats gloat on how powerful we are and all that. How else are they supposed to view us?

Spade of Colombia why do you out the word English in inverted commas and I think we are hated across Europe because of the large number of lager louts in our country that travel to Spain and other countrys. We traditionally were seen as the sophisticated country of the world drinking Pimms and riding horses but now I fear that the chav has tarnished this and we are all labelled as a nation of yobs by other countries. Except for the USA of course who still seem to be under some illusion that we all speak like the queen. Ahh... ignorance is bliss.

Actually The Romans were more hated in their time then the "english" are today. And if you want to get technical and want to spend the time researching you would most likely find a lot more nations in history that where hated twice as much as the "english".

We're not the most hated nation on earth. When we look at other nations we get an air of superiority, but then who wouldn't?

I love the English and I've read all the history books. We all have lousy leadership at times but that is not a reflection on the people of the nation merely their representatives. Pass the HP sauce :)

It's probably because the British had colonies everywhere and the native people didn't being colonised. It's like that in my country. I think it's kind of immature to keep hating the English though
