Why is it that when you criticize America, you are considered a traitor?

Like I criticize Bush, people call me a traitor. I AM SO TIRED OF PEOPLE EXPECTING ME TO LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT MY COUNTRY! I am a right to a option and if I don't like something about America, That's doesn't mean I hate America. I love it but I hate some things about it!

i hate to say it, but people expect you to sit back, shut up, and take whatever they dish at you. we are human beings just like everyone else, the president, the government, congress; who are they to determine what happens with our lives.. like when they give standardized test in the school systems, they've taken it to the point where now THEY determine how smart you are.. ain't that some stuff?

Actually, i know tons of people that criticize bush, and no one considers them traitors. do u criticize, maybe, the troops? it's probably more to do with the fact that people find u un-patriotic. and in a sense, they consider you to be a traitor to what america should stand for, etc. many presidents come out of office less liked than when they went in, so it's probably gung ho bush supporters that call u a traitor. it's also more that u cna bash america in america and around americans, but around foreigners you shouldn't talk bad about your country. it's like how u say all of the terrible things about your school's football team, but talkin to another person from a rival school u'll always say that u can beat them

Who called you a traitor? If that was true I think about 75% of America would be considered traitors. You're allowed to have your own opinion, everyone else does

It appears you spend too much time around narrow-minded uneducated people. Tell them to read the Bill of Rights and the Consitution of the United States. We live in a country that actually encourages criticism. The present administration seems to conveniently forget that fact.

ME TOO! To all of that! i mean ill be at school and we start talking about polotics and i say Bush is stupid and everyone explodes on me! i mean we have a right of speech right? so im just using it! Im not sure though... i guess because everyone thinks America is perfect and i hate how Americans think that they are better (even though i am an american!) i mean yes we can help but we arent perfect why do other people want to be like us?!!

You're generalizing based on what a few have said to you. I don't think you're a traitor. You have every right to speak your mind. Thise who call you "traitor" are lacking intelligence. You are responsible, however, to speak intelligently about your beliefs. If you have an opinion but cannot provide information to support your beliefs, I would suggest you remain quiet.

I have a president or two that I did not appreciate but I never spoke out against them. I believe that I will back our country at every possible time that I am able to do so. I understand that you believe that he is wrong but I still would not say anythin g that sounds as Unamerican as saying I "hate a President" or anything like that. Have a great evening.

Bush and the religious-right are the traitors and, like children, they call those who oppose them the name that really applies to them.

I know what you mean. Americans in general think our country is so great, that it's not. Look at the crime rates, look at the poverty, look at the racism, stereotyping, look at the unfair elections, and yes look at the President.


I think people put on this perfect persona to tell other countries, mainly the ones where people hate us that they can't mess with us. Which I think is stupid, we don't even need terrorism from other countries, we terrorize ourselves.

It is interesting. Before the Bush's Admin you could question America's policies . now because of his divisive attitude, we are all traitors.
