A "what if" question:

Atheists, if God did exist, would anything change in your life?

"Christians" (or others), if God didn't exist, would anything change in your life? Specifically, I care more of your answer then an Atheist since he/she is not "losing" anything (belief, idea, a "hope").

How would you feel if the opposite of what you believed was true? I mean really feel - imagine it, put yourself in those shoes (takes longer then half a second of thought). Would you feel fear? Would you be lost? Would you have found something?

Here is something I’ve written in defense of my posture that the Church must relinquish statehood. What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree?

The Vatican Must Relinquish Statehood

While Christians do not fear what the world offers we rightly fear God in His correction. The signs of His correction are with us. Cradle Catholics leave the Church or see her as only a social obligation. Cafeteria Catholics pick and choose what they wish to believe then practice as devout believers sometimes organizing into fronts for Pagan causes. There is a pitiful lack of priests and religious. Our indulgence in armed defense and statehood has put the Church in the sorrowful state of correction.

The Church strives toward perfection. The Church has changed away from and toward that goal since Jesus walked the Earth. Giving the world the benefit of the doubt, the perfected Church will not embrace politics and statehood. Christ works from within sometimes beyond human perception. Only externals may be determined through a Christian state. Christian statehood was never a good idea. In some cases it was an evil. It gave leave to Christians enforcing Christianity on the world through force. In as much, it gave leave to Christians beating up on their own servants. We who have been given so much are expected to give much. To those who have been given more, even more is expected. (Luke 12:35-48) To what end do we seek to have a Christian state? Do we fear death? Do we fear the loss of property or influence?

Having nothing to fear and everything to gain, Christians need not protect themselves or holy property through statehood. Should we die for Christ, we die as martyrs strengthening the Church by becoming members of the Church Triumphant. If by following Christ we leave everything we have, we will be given even more. (Matthew 19:29) We need not project ourselves by nationhood either. Following our God we know that statehood is not what we seek. Jesus is not and never has been a statesman in the temporal world. (John 18:36) He corrected those who lived by the sword in support of Him. (Matthew 26:52) He withdrew from those who would make Him a temporal King. (John 6:15) He has a kingdom that transcends the temporal world. He has the Kingdom of God.

The Catholic Church is the beachhead of the Kingdom of God in the temporal world. We who belong to the Kingdom of God know we are not yet complete. We fight the good fight of the Church Militant. We should not be split between the heavenly mission of saving souls and worldly political infighting. God is not split. He is one. We believe in the Communion of Saints. (Apostle’s Creed) In our belief we know that the Church Triumphant, the Saints in Heaven, fight with us with more vigor and strength than we can imagine. They are not fettered by worldly desires, temptations and sin. Their minds are clear. Their hearts are pure. They have the intelligence and strength of angels who fight with them. One, St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus, promised us before death that she will spend Heaven doing good on Earth. If every Christian in the temporal world is martyred, the Church will still exist stronger and more loving in the form of the Church Triumphant.

There can always be new members of the Church on Earth. Jesus said He can raise stones to be children of Abraham. (Luke 3:8) Christians are the sons of Abraham grafted in through Christ into God’s promises of Abraham. (Galatians 3:29) Should we all die, Jesus can raise up more to become the Church through Christ Himself. (Acts 9:1-16) (Acts 44-46)

In righteous fear of God’s correction, it is time for the Church, exhibiting her strength from God, to end the tradition of being statesmen. It is time for there to no longer be a Christian armed defense. Jesus tells us to turn the other cheek. (Mt 5:39) It is time for us to be willing to flee (John 8:59) or die rather than fight. We must assume the strength given to us from God. The weaker are truly the stronger through the grace of the Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 12:9) (1 Corinthians 12:23)

We must be ready. He is coming back.

Yours in Christ Jesus, Grace

Every now and again, my husband and I are finding ourselves with having to lend money or are failing our kids out, despite us now being retired, and the kids are well in their 2Os, or is this the norm. these days. Is it the way we have brought them up, have we spoilt them literally???

We do get very frustrated about the whole situation of late, but worry about the grand children, if it were not for them, we would pull the plug - thats for sure. Emotional blackmail, is this what its all about?

I would say they were in dept to us, up to 6 thousand pounds.
But having spoken to several other parents, their debts are up in the 3O thousand pounds mark!?!?!?

why are you as a man with sexual knowlage desire lots of woman. You say you only like one, but when you are with her long enough or you get older, I am sure the younger look good to you.
King david one after the Lords heart had many woman. YOU DESIRE MANY, even if you have one. You only have one now a days because of Jesus(I think) but back in the day you could have had many. What kind of holy God creates sexual knowlage for us and puts it on many woman like he breeding us like animals? Does he truly love us, or does he breed us?

why can the eyes not desire only ONE WOMAN....I as a man hate my hetrosexuality because I can not pick a woman out, because of the long line of woman to chose from. The flesh the lord tells us not to desire 1 John 2:15-16. His love is not there.....do you see the riddle for heaven? the need for the power of God?Matthew 22:29. And why you have to be like the angels in heaven?

You can call me dumb, I don't care this is silly.

Sometimes (like last night) when I'm scared I just keep praying until I fall asleep- it keeps me at peace. But is it okay to fall asleep in prayer intentionally?

I also had a funny dream and wanna share it. I was at Mass in my old church and was helping the priest give out Holy Communion. I decided that wine didnt taste good and I made pudding for it and everyone was mad- but it tasted awesome!

back to the question though- do you think thats wrong?

The more i read or research the more confused i get about evangelicals or fundies. i was an evangelical for almost 20 years but now looking at history I find that much of what i believe was wrong.

I used to believe that the bible was the sole and absolute authority.

But the current NKJV or NIV etc is not the original bible, Luther and others took books out and changed things so that it could fit their new ideology. the king of england changed it so he could get divorced.

And yet they did still believe in the true presence in Communion and that Mary was an ever virgin. They did believe in Pergatory and confession. Luther himself wrote that it was dangerous to personaly interpret scripture because it could lead to a multitude of denominations.

This all happened a few hundred years ago, 1600 years after jesus founded his church. i cant believe i was so deluded.

how was i so blind or brainwashed. the bible itself calls the Church the pillar of truth, not the bible,

The modern Catholics claim that the Catholic Church cannonized the Bible, translated it, and then and only then did the churches have use of it.

The writings of all the church fathers and the multitude of translations are in fact what sparked the desire to have a uniform trasnlation controlled by the emerging Government Church.

I live in London, Ontario, Canada.

An international package sent to me went missing for about a month.
Lately, the sender tracked it online in the attempt to figure out what is going on, and found a person called M Beaudoin signed and received the package.

I don't even know who the heck that guy is; the package is sent to MY address and is supposed to be received by ME.

Can anyone think of any possible reason how that could happen?

Many of you have been waiting for some sort of universal awakening. I've been unaware for too long and have finally accepted the truth. Are you ready for it? Are you sure you can handle it?

I mean... If God really was this totally powerful omnipotent entity, then God would have no problem communicating, right?

(Don´t give me they "you have to be open to God" argument. If God was all powerful, there would be no criteria for hearing God.)

I received "best answer" this morning, clicked into the question and found it had been deleted. Have tried to follow it through the process to find why. but cannot get anywhere.
why would this particular question get deleted? I cannot even find the person who posted it, anywhere on Answers. What has happened can anybody tell me. It could not have been put as a violation because of the question itself, could it? I am completely at a loss to understand this one.
