You can call me dumb, I don't care this is silly.

Sometimes (like last night) when I'm scared I just keep praying until I fall asleep- it keeps me at peace. But is it okay to fall asleep in prayer intentionally?

I also had a funny dream and wanna share it. I was at Mass in my old church and was helping the priest give out Holy Communion. I decided that wine didnt taste good and I made pudding for it and everyone was mad- but it tasted awesome!

back to the question though- do you think thats wrong?

I have woken up praying before.

From Islamic point of view it is OK if you do not do it deliberately. Your dream seems to be somewhat pro-Islamic because wine did not taste good in it.

For repentance and prayers for healing and/or blessings to others, I believe you should try to stay awake (but it is hard sometimes, especially at night!). I pray when I'm scared, too (at night). I believe that our Holy Spirit continues praying on our behalf, even when we fall asleep. After all, He knows what we need better than we do, so I feel better that He is the one praying. :)

Think of it this way, if you were on the telephone with Jesus and went to sleep while still on the line, the conversation wouldn't truly be over until HE hangs up. It's the same way with praying because our Holy Spirit is the one doing all the talking. Or at least that's how I think of it.

Funny story! Wine pudding. HA!

Blessings to you!

Excuse me for a moment, little sister, but I need to address a comment to "tucsonrn": Was that gratuitous comment about "saying your usual hail mary prayers" really necessary? Do you often make such assumptions about HOW and WHAT people are praying? Unless my little sister here specifically stated that she was praying a rosary before falling asleep, I fail to see how this is even relevant -- except to highlight your personal prejudice. Shame on you.

Now, then. No, it's not wrong to fall asleep while praying; can you imagine a better way to slip into sleep than with your mind directed toward Christ? And even if you're intentionally praying to fall asleep, my goodness, that certainly beats relying on a sleeping pill or something. You really can't go wrong by praying in any situation, you know.

I don't think that going to sleep praying is a bad thing. I sometimes do it when I am really afraid about something. But otherwise I just say a quick prayer before bed. But it doesn't matter how you pray or how long, as long as you feel at ease. As for your dream I guess you don't like wine and prefere pudding, or want to be like Jesus who turned water into wine and you turn wine into pudding? I just think you want to be closer to Jesus to sum it up.
Whatever you are afraid of tell Jesus about it. Come to terms with it. He'll take your fears away:)

Hehe

Yeah It's Good to pray.Your probably going through a lot or have a lot to say to God. God knows you didn't fall asleep intentionally, but I'm sure God knows what you need. Just saying the Lord's prayer is fine, and then asking and believing you receive what you ask for. It's also necessary to pray for friends, family,Jerusalem, World peace, and problems only God can fix.

Know that God hears you the first time

It is ok to fall asleep praying. I do it all the time. I want my last thoughts to be of the Lord, talking with

If you are a Catholic, and saying your usual "hail mary prayers
try just praying for others! Perhaps you will have more true dreams.

No, its not wrong to fall asleep while praying at night.
In fact I was taught to pray if I do wake up in the middle of the night. It is right and good to do so; you might get a few people out of Purgatory that has no one to pray for them.
Your dream is bizarre but then dreams are like that I wouldn't worry about it.

No. You prayed for peace and God knows you need the peace-of-sleep and He gave you. There's nothing wrong in it.

If you are praying like normal and should not sleep yet slept off, you lack of rest. So take some time to sleep well. It's just like in school where you dozed off in your class when the teacher is teaching.

Very much so (as in "ok").

Nothing wrong with it, dont worry about it. We spend a good 8 hours sleeping, a day, and spend 1/3 of our lives in that state - it's good that some thoughts are on the positive side (not just when you're awake but sleeping, too)

I fall asleep at night also when praying. If it brings you peace and comfort then keep it up. Funny dream. I am sure Jesus enjoyed your dream also.
