I asked this question, copying word for word, because same question was deleted and I cannot find out why. I did not ask the question previously but I cannot find any answers to why this particular question, with the exact same wording, was deleted.

Thank you all. I agree with the answers re Jesus' skin probably being olive. The reason why the original question was deleted still confuses me, but I will leave well alone.
My belief about this question., Since I do not see "color" in my life, it really never occurs to me to ask what color anybody was or is, including Jesus.
Since color is never a problem for me, in the past, present or future.

Jesus was Jewish, of Middle Eastern lineage, so I would think he was dark-skinned, brown-eyed, etc. But none of us really know what Jesus looked like, even those artists who always make him look effeminate with flowing locks and and a mournful face. Since he was a carpenter, I would imagine he was very masculine, with the muscles of a man who worked with his hands.
According to Peter Jennings, who traveled to Israel for a program called "In Search of Jesus," the average male height of men back then (as research has proven) was only four feet, so there is a chance that Jesus was very short.
Since his life from birth to the age of thirty is pretty much cloaked in mystery, we only know that he emerged as a prophet and religious leader at this age. But, climate considered, with its heavy doses of sunshine and Jesus' penchant for wandering among the poor and the sick, he was probably pretty well tanned.

Maureen, I have to know why you believe this in order to answer your question correctly.
Many people have made this claim, because Joseph's lineage has a considerable amount of black races and cultures in it. However, what is forgotten is that Jesus was not Joseph's blood relative; Jesus' father was the Holy Spirit. I don't believe the Holy Spirit has a specific color.
In reality, Jesus probably looked like an olive-skinned Arab...just like the majority of Jews who lived at that time.
EDIT:
Thanks for the clarification, Maureen. Questions are often deleted here without good cause. The questioner can appeal the deletion, and according to YA help, resolved questions are never deleted (This is incorrect, however, it happens all the time. Seems they don't follow their own guidelines. However, I'm starting to think some of this is automated.).
Quite often, someone is out to get someone here, and they will make numerous accounts in order to report that person over and over. Also, they can give their own questions a best answer. IOW, there are many sockpuppets here.

Seems to be a problem here, some people point out that Joesph was a descendant of David. they seem to forget the part that he was not Josephs son. Now of course that means one thing what Part of the Jewish group did Mary come from and there has been some that say she was in fact part of the Ethiopian Jews this would certainly mean Jesus was black. Not a popular notion with some to say it do. Then they also claim the Egyptians looked like the Greeks some did in the higher orders then but most of the population of Egypt were not Greek.

There is a verse in Revelations saying his skin is like a certain type of brass.
Here we go:
Revelations 1:15 and his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
Also, when he was little, he was taken to Egypt to prevent Herod rom capturing him. Since he was fleeing to a foreign nation, he had to have had a skin tone either the same or similar to that of the Egyptians.

Hi.....
Tell that to the millions, who regularly sit and pray in front of a 'white' image of Jesus!!!
It must be a real comfort to them, thinking he was the same colour as themselves!!!
This was certainly the case, when the slave trade was ongoing and it is a fact, that words from the bible were the underlying cause of the slave trade, in the first place!!
'The dark race, will become the slaves of men'.
It is our Great Free Democracy, that has given us equal rights for 'all', certainly not religion!!!

Actually Maureen he was middle eastern with wavy/curly black hair, almost black eyes, olive skin, so he was very likely to be of Indo-European or South Asian descent.
His wife Ms Magdalene had curly red hair and brown eyes.

Actually, He is of Middle Eastern decent, Jewish. Therefore He had olive colored skin, dark hair and eyes.
Personally, it's not His looks that attracted me to Him, it's His Spirit. His love for His Father and for me. He willingly laid down His life for me, truly there is no greater gift.
I know in Revelation, His hair is white, like wool. So, it's not dark anymore, His hair is white.
Hope that helps!
