to the 2 billion people that have never heard of him and to another 2 billion people that don't know any more about him than your average Christian knows of, say, Hare Krishna?

These are (optimistic) numbers from Christian websites, but regardless of the specifics, most of the world has been brought up in a non-Christian society with only anecdotal exposure to Jesus, if any.

So they are all basically doomed, yet most Christians were born into some type of Christian household where the path of least resistance is to be Christian, in name if not in deed.

Not that that means they're automatically saved, but no matter what they still have an astronomically better chance of following Christ than any poor sap unlucky enough to be born in nearly any non-western culture.

How can the most fateful choice of our lives be so inequitable?

I'm Black, and I've dated high class white women before. All I met in school. Not saying this as an accoplishment at all. It seemed that all my life white women have walked around with this wall of superiority around them as if they think they are the most beautiful women in the world. It seems like those walls of superiority have fallen.

Dear Dogs,

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by Schumacher and is not a racetrack Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, growl, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years -- canine attendance is not required.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog's butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:

To All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets:

1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it 'fur'niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.

Remember: In many ways, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
1. Eat less
2. Don't ask for money all the time
3. Are easier to train
4. Normally come when called
5. Never ask to drive the car
6.Don't hang out with drug-using friends
7. Don't smoke or drink
8. Don't have to buy the latest fas hions
9. Don't want to wear your clothes
10. Don't need a 'gazillion' dollars for college.
And finally,
11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children.

the sun will start making its way back to the northern hemisphere after winter solstice? Did you know that if you get up early that morning before the sun rises, and look to the east you'll see the constellation Virgo rise up before the sun does, and give birth to the Sun? Did you know that in 274 of our current age of Pisces or what you Christians call After Jesus.. the Romans dedicated that day to their Sun God Sol Invictus? Do you realize the implications in all of this?

I really couldn't last long as a Christian, just one crisis after another sent by God in order to 'test' my faith. Does he ever stop giving you tests, or is that going to go on your whole life. Will he ever finally believe you have faith if you do really well on the tests?

Back in 2004 I met Faruch at a telemarketing firm in the Oakbrook area.
During break time he and I would talk about philosophy and religious concepts, he taught me about Islam and the misconceptions of Muslims and things of that nature.
I invited him and his wife over to my house where they met my (now estranged) wife and our newborn son.
I lent him some End Time Prophecy movies from the Christian perspective and he gave me videos on CD ROM about the same topic but from the Muslim perspective.
I do not care for the videos back I just would like to get back in touch with Faruch and tell him where I moved to and get back to our intellectual, technological, and also philosophical discussions we enjoyed having. I enjoyed his friendship and the unique perspective I had not been exposed to in person before.
If he is reading this I hope he will e-mail me and we can exchange contact information.

My future mother in law tells my guy things that make him believe she's welcoming me into our local Muslim community, and at the same time I'll catch her frowning at me. It happened recently at a gathering. Of course he never sees this himself. So it's a bit awkward in that sense.

I am aware that there are certain things that you can do, and not do out of respect for elders, and members of the community who are more religious. We live in the US, so if I lean my head on his shoulder and his mother is there, this is not offensive to me, and I did not think it would have been to her, either! She doesnt cover her head, she wears american clothes. So where is this strictness coming from?

Was it because there were a few elders in the room, or was it because she was just being particularly bitter that day. They were all in conversation and not really paying any attention to us anyway. I guess im wondering what the dirty looks were about, and if she actually had reason for it?

I moved to SoCal a few months ago and want to do something beside work and come home... What are some good volunteer opportunities around? I really would like to work with animals or kids and donate my time.

I currently already give money to United Way, but it doesn't seem enough to me with so much going on in the world today. Also with so much time on my hands too!

Any good ideas or sites? I cannot find anything for the life of me! grrr.....

It occurred to me late last night that there are some people here who take the bible as much more than a guide to how to be a godly person, and who consider its words to be the only true record of the universe.
Conversely, there are many people who consider it to be a book, written in an attempt to fully comprehend the teachings of their prophets, and that is rich in powerful symbolism.
I'm interested to see into what category most christians here fall.
Have fun!

Let's say a person is kind, just, and honest...lives to fulfill his or her dreams in a fair way. Abides by the laws, harms no others, and doesn't judge another. This person also is NOT Christian and has chosen another religious path.

How can you follow a God, that if he exists, would condemn this person to hell for choosing not to follow "his" (mans interpretation) word.

If there is a Christian God, I will refuse to believe he is like this. I think any person who has good moral values and is over all a decent person should have eternal happiness. What are your thoughts?
