My neighbors (Muslims & other faiths) & I that lived very next to the Surau (small mosque).

We r okay with the Azans, including the dawn Azan. Infact almost all of us wake up during the dawn Azan at 5.50am, and we r kind of welcoming that. My self & Muslim neigbor frequently pray at the Surau too.

Since a week ago there is this man comes into the Surau earlier at 5.am.-5.15 am, use the Adzan speaker to recite verses. He said that is "Taharim". And purposely to 'wake up' the neighbors.

Most of my neighbours, including myself found it so disturbing, The volume is similar to Azan & the recital is going on for 30-45 minutes, and has been disturbing our sleep especially for those who have newborns.

My neighbors hoped I could do something about it. So I have talked to the man, to consider us & do the recital in the afternoon prayer instead of dawn.

But he was furious & told me he did'nt care about a few Muslims & Kaffirs complaints, and said the Hadiths asked to do so.

Does age or amount of time one has, matter when it comes to decorating? I'm older and have more time but I seem to care less about decorating for the holidays!

I think I'm going to go with a fire & ice party theme for this years Christmas party. Any ideas for how I could decorate or for the invitations? OR can you think of a better theme for the party? By the way money is not much of an issue so the bigger and more outrageous the better. The party is going to be for teens/college students so no drinking because everyone will be underage.

Your help is greatly appreciated! :) Thanks

I asked a question earlier that was poorly explained and ended up confusing most people, so here's my second shot at it:

Will the grace of God eventually lead to the salvation of all people? I ask this in light of reading 1st Timothy 4:9-11, which states, "The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and struggle, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. These are the things you must insist on and teach." (NRSV)

Note how Timothy says God is not Savior ONLY to those who believe, but instead says ESPECIALLY. The Greek word μαλιστα is used 12 times in the NT, and is translated as "especially" 11 out of 12 times (the exception: 2 Timothy 4:13). This is not a distortion of the word on part of the NRSV translators.

Doesn't this seem to clash with the idea that only believers can and will be saved? How can Christ be the savior of unbelievers if they aren't actually saved?

(Since this is starting to become a common thing in the R&S section, I thought I'd give it a try too, just to learn how it feels to do it. Specially take notice of the last sentence, because that seems to be very normal after ending an insane, mean, insulting, angry rant)

Would you be upset if your teenage daughter was in a serious relationship with someone of another religion and going to church/temple with them. Even if your not a religious person, would you feel disrespected if your daughter was doing this. BTW I don't mind her with someone of another religion, I just don't like the fact that she's behind my back going to church/temple with him. I feel that is unnessesary. I don't practice my religion much but I know what I am and respect that. I chose to not tell you my religion. I don't want anyone to feel disrespected when that's not what I'm trying to do.

Why must theists repeat this inane argument?: "God is like the air. You can't see the air, but you believe in it. God can't be seen, but he is believed in just like the air!"

Let's start with our senses. We can smell and taste the air. We can see, hear and feel the effects of wind (i.e., moving air). We can MEASURE many physical characteristics of the air with instruments and in different ways (temperature: themometer; pressure: barometer; wind speed: anemometer; water content: hygrometer). We've determined what air is made of: 78% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, etc.

God can't be observed or measured by scientific instruments like the air. God is NOT like the air.

So... can this argument stop being used? How ignorant do theists using this argument have to be?

They pray 5 times a day which is a nice dedication i think...
But I noticed that they all pray in Arabic!
Chantes from mosques are all Arabic.
Of course I am talking about non arabic muslim countries such as Turkey, Indonesia etc...
Chantes are for calling people to pray. Whats the point of chanting in a language that no one understands??

Okay, so I am not trying to offend religious people in any way. But i'm just curious as to why some religious people completely ignore scientific facts that have been proven, and still believe what is written in the bible?

For eg: scientists have re created the arc in which Noah built, and have proven that it was impossible to fit the amount of animals on it as he did.
Yet people still believe this, is it ignorance?
