Until about five years ago, our house was one that everyone in town drove by to see.
I can't do it and I don't want my husband on a ladder.
He does what he can but there comes a time when enough is enough.
He put up the tree, decorated the mantel and set out some candle arrangements and of course our stockings hanging on the fireplace with care.
It looks rather festive.

I'm the lazy decorator. I do it all last minute, and that's about a few weeks before Christmas. Don't even ask me how long it takes to take down holiday decorations! This is about early decorating. I guess my left-over decorations could be considered very early decorating.

I used to and enjoyed it very much! Now that the last of my children are soon to be off and in college, I have a horrible time wanting to get any decorations out at all. I think that if I were to have people visit during the holidays (especially young children) I would be more prone to decorate. Decorating has kind of become a lot of work that I have mostly done myself so I just don't feel like going through all of that trouble for just myself.

Like everyone else, when the girls were younger I used to decorate. Now that they are teenagers I don't bother. We even did a small tree this year that we could put up on a table. I would love to decorate the outside of the house with Christmas lights but we live at the end of a dead end road and no one would ever see them, so why bother?

Not at all. Working at an Asst. Living facility I am on Christmas decoration over load. For some reason unknown to me (and many of the residents, I might add) the Asst. Living "decorators" seem to go out of their way to make the place look like a nursery school with all their tacky plastic stuff...they have not yet learned that less is definitely more...

Not so much anymore. My kids are grown and live in other states. My cat seems to think that pretty "dangly" things hanging from a tree are to knock off roll across the floor and chase, climb the tree truck and generally raise havoc. My pup seems to think the light wires are "tasty", Where ever there is the Christmas Village seems to be where the cat decides to take a nap and stretch out and knock things on the floor (must be fun!!!)
I have Christmas lights that I had help putting away and they are a tangled mess and I don't have the patience to undo all the balled up mess

Not like I used to. My daughter is the family's "christmas fairy"....her place looks like Disneyland....and she has ALL the old family things and uses them all. Delightful! And, I don't have to put 'em up or take 'em down.
I have a lovely little 4' tall artificial tree...its white "wire" with over 400 multi-color lights.. It sits on my entertainment center right in the middle of the double windows..Also have a few silver and gold candles holders, a cute gold, sparkly tree about a foot tall and some golden lattice bells with tiny red glass balls.
The tree lights give a lovely glow to my living room and shines like a beacon from outside....
That's plenty.
Christmas morning and dinner have been at my daughters home since my grandson was born 16 years ago. It's a wonderful day!

I use to decorate a lot when I had the kids and home and I had my health. This year I am not decorating much as they won't be here and I am going to friends house and my relatives and will enjoy their decorations!! I find I have more time now but not as interested either...maybe because I won't have many visitors ....who knows. I will say this when my house is sided and new windows I am going to have a big open house holiday party and I am going to deck the halls and all!! lol!!

less definitely on a personal basis. live in a retirement setting and the place has so many Christmas decorations am glad to get away from them. may put up a few things such as my fiber optic tree and a couple of other things which will take less than 30 minutes to do. the more one puts up the more one has to take down.

Yep - same for me....I decorate fully IF my family will be here on Christmas Day, as was the case last year. But this year we'll be celebrating at another family member's home, and I just don't feel like lugging out all that stuff and putting it up, doing the tree etc, only to have to take it all down a week or so later.
