i don't believe it's okay to lie - ever! honesty is the best for you and everyone around you. if you think you must tell a white lie to avoid hurting someone's feelings, you don't. there are ways to say things nicely or to not say them at all.
i don't think most people will agree with me though. most everyone i know thinks that white lies are okay. honesty is one of the most important principles i live by. the truth will set you free. it's true.

in most religions there is no "white" lie. A lie is an untruth and if told the teller will burn in hell
