The Qur’an says that only Allah knows the sex of the child in the womb of the mother but now science has advanced and we can easily determine the sex of the child in the womb by ultrasonography. Isn’t this verse of the Qur’an conflicting with medical science?

I live in the Central Valley of California where we have a large population of Fundamentalist Christians. This particular religion (as well as others) is bigoted and prejudiced against the religious beliefs of others.

The Dictionary defines Bigotry as: Stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.

That is exactly the behavior I witness from this particular religion. I am also told, by people who were once in that church, that is the ideology they are taught.

So tell me, what makes Religious Bigotry OK in a country where Racial Bigotry is so reviled and repulsive?

I'm stuck about how to say the following;
1) How would I say "Been to" if I wanted to say Er has been to my grandmothers house and the Vets?"

2) How do I say how old someone is? I'm studying spanish and German at the same time and I keep getting them mixed up, I think one is "He has ___ years" and the other one is different..

Thank you!

Why Rome?
What set it apart as the center of Catholic/Orthodox power?
Constantine certainly did not recognize this at all.

Either the Emperor snubbed the biggest person in Christianity, or that position (Pope) did not exist.

Other documents from independent and even Catholic sources point to the fact that the first Pope of Rome was only declared in the 7th century.

But why not in Antioch or Jerusalem?

I watched this documentary about gay animals. There are more than 400 animals are known that engage homosexuality.
Dont you think it is a natural phenomenon in order to control overpopulation? or something else?
And by the way; I am straight! :) but I fully support LGBT rights...

Does leaning on faith consist of ceasing to ask pertinent, possibly faith-disproving questions?

Can a person who depends on faith endure looking more closely at the source of that faith without cultivating stronger & stronger doubts in that faith?

The contradictions in the bible are obvious. It's as if there are two gods. The Loving and forgiving God. And the jealous and vengeful Lord. Christians seem to go one of two ways. Either toward Love and forgiveness, or jealousy and hatred. Was it written this way, by God, so that people would make their own choice between good and evil?

1. In Romans & Acts we discover that Peter was never in Rome before 60 A.D. for sure!
2. The churches of Rome pre-dated Paul's visit to them in 60 A.D.

Other men were pastoring the house churches in Rome that Paul wrote to.

What happens to scientists, researchers, scholars, and others who just can't seem to conjur up sufficient belief that Jesus rose into the sky and became a god?

Also regarding the story that Joshua (or was it God, I forget) stopped the sun:

What happens to astronomers, physicists and others who cannot manage to believe that one?

Maybe they'll writhe and scream in agony in Hell forever. Won't that be a hoot --

[EXCERPTS]

WHEN Times editors assigned me to the religion beat, I believed God had answered my prayers.

As a serious Christian, I had cringed at some of the coverage in the mainstream media. Faith frequently was treated like a circus, even a freak show.

I wanted to report objectively and respectfully about how belief shapes people's lives. Along the way, I believed, my own faith would grow deeper and sturdier.

But during the eight years I covered religion, something very different happened.
...
AS the stories piled up, I began to pray with renewed vigor, but it felt like I wasn't connecting to God. I started to feel silly even trying.
...
And I considered another possibility: Maybe God didn't exist.
...
Clearly, I saw now that belief in God, no matter how grounded, requires at some point a leap of faith. Either you have the gift of faith or you don't. It's not a choice.
