Why Rome?
What set it apart as the center of Catholic/Orthodox power?
Constantine certainly did not recognize this at all.
Either the Emperor snubbed the biggest person in Christianity, or that position (Pope) did not exist.
Other documents from independent and even Catholic sources point to the fact that the first Pope of Rome was only declared in the 7th century.
But why not in Antioch or Jerusalem?

Constantine himself was not a Christian and Rome has been chosen as the capital for other historical conveniences.

The primacy of Rome was not an issue for the Patriarchates of Antioch or Jerusalem: the Roman primacy was not disputed. What that primacy encompassed would feature greatly in the tensions between Constantinople, the New Rome, and Old Rome.

My opinion is that Vatican do a mistake. They think that is necesary a point of faith joint. And that one can`t be. Why? Because Jesus Christ is our head. And Jesus is in our world. Is with us at every liturghy. So because of that we think that all churces has the same head. Like a body: a lot of bodyparts arms, legs, eyes, ears, but only one soul.
So, when a Pope decide that he is the head did a mistake. All apostolic churces are in the same body: antioch, jeruslaem, coptic, armenic, russian, serbian, romanian, bulgarian etc but the catolic church still want to stay outside. Even all other apostolic churches recognize her that is first not like church but first bishop.

There were several patriarchs of Christianity. One day, the patriarch of Rome got a stick up his butt, and decided the rest had to be below him, and justified it by saying that Peter was the first bishop, and his church was in Rome.
This is the truth, it's one of the main factors that lead to the great schism. The other patriarchs really didn't like the pope saying he was better than the rest.
