Some people probably have the misconception that it is not natural because homosexual relations cannot lead to reproduction. Supposedly, the drive to reproduce is a natural instinct found in all animals--another misconception. Though misguided, this notion does have an evolutionary basis: animals with no drive to reproduce will not reproduce successfully, and their genes will theoretically be lost from the population. However, homosexuality may in fact be a natural response to overpopulation. This would not be surprising, considering the drastic (and possibly dangerous) increase in the human population that has occured in the past century.

Female animals in some species tend to mate only with the dominant males, and the other males do it with each other as a way to satisfy their natural instincts and to find pleasure at the same time. Humans in many ways are doing the same thing - but they face other obstacles, such as cultural and religious proscriptions, the history and reasons for which would take too long to go into.
But it has been argued that up until the time we evolved the ability to use language, homosexuality was just an alternate method of intercourse. The lesbian variety was supposedly an alternate method of obtaining a form of intimacy.

As others have indicated, there are also other kinds of behavior common amongst some animals such as cannibalism. To use animals as examples of human behavior isn't really logical since you would have to be selective about it; it's along the lines of selective relativism. Unlike animals, we have the ability to know God who can lift us up above the desires of the body. All people are God's children and that includes people in homosexuality. All people have sinned no matter what those sins are, and no one deserves salvation -- and we are spiritually dead -- because of those sins. Yes, homosexuality is a sin along with many other things; however, Jesus never turned away anyone who came to him for forgiveness, help & healing, and salvation. And yes, people in homosexuality are every bit as much included as part of the "world" in the promise of John 3:16. Peace be with you.

Because they Want to?
I've Heard the "Animal Argument" Many, Many Times Over Many Years, too Bad that Many people Found a Way to Validate their Own Prejudice In it, Now that it has Been Proven Untrue, they Will Probably Find Another Way.

I am also straight... and married! But I have a great deal of knowledge on this from the inside. My Uncle was gay!
I say "was" because he died in 2000 after suffering from AIDS for almost 15 years. I never held his lifestyle against him.
I think is is more of a "programming" problem. The mind thinks one way, but the body was developed as another. I am not sure it is used as a means to prevent over-population
That being said, NO! They cannot be "re-programmed". That is who they are. Love them as you would anyone else.

Just another reason people should be ok with it. Very Interesting....I knew there were a few species that commonly engaged in homosexual activity but didn't know it was that many! Where did you see this documentary or what was the name of it...I'd love to see it myself!

Well, i think homosexuality issue is another subject. It's not something you can say "Hey animals do it so can we". Animals f.ck on the streets too. Humans are different than animals(in most things)

Yeah makes me very puzzled too.. do those people who say that being gay is not natural think that gay people take some sort of 'gay pills' to be gay? >_<
Edit: Also those who say that it's a choice, how exactly does this process of choosing one's sexuality work? Do you just wake up one morning right before you hit pubetry and go to yourself "Hmm I think I'll go gay" or "Hmm I think I'll go straight".... it's nonsense!
