If I am honest with myself I would have to answer my everyday life lately has been consuming me. Having to do this, having to do that. Working working working only to pay bills. Managing this load and that. I find that my prayers have been centered around finding relief from some of these things, but as I began to center my focus on him and allow true worship to flow, I am reminded of the more important things. I realize that through the things I encounter I am being challenged and stretched and if kept in proper perspective these things will not be distractions or deterents. My worship towards Him will continue to flow uninterrupted.

Talk about 'evil' to so many athiests and they don't bat an eyelid. Talk about ghosts and demons in films, and they still don't.

In John 8:58, when quizzed about how He (Jesus) has special knowledge of Abraham, Jesus replies,
"Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I Am"

His audience understood exactly what He was claiming about himself.
"So they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple" (John 8:59).

Why would they want to stone Jesus?
What does He mean by "I Am"?

Before you answer, remember that atheism itself isn't a principle, cause, philosophy, or belief system which people fight, die, or kill for.... like christianity is. .Communists don't kill in the name of atheism.

Ok - here's the scenario. For a office holiday party they have a voting contest ($1 per vote) where the top vote getter is Santa, the 2nd place is Mrs Claus, the last place is an elf. They "get" to wear the costumes to the party. Also, they can buy their way out by paying whatever money their place earned and then the next person in line has to wear the costume. Is immoral for a man to have to be Mrs Claus? What about a woman being Santa?

This is how it happened...I just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go to bed, when I heard a noise in the front of the house. I opened the door to the front room and to my surprise, Santa himself stepped out from behind the Christmas tree.

He placed his finger over his mouth so I would not cry out. "What are you doing?" I started to ask. The words choked up in my throat, and I saw he had tears in his eyes. His usual jolly manner was gone. Gone was the eager, boisterous soul we all know.

He then answered me with a simple statement.
"TEACH THE CHILDREN!"

I was puzzled; what did he mean? He anticipated my question, and with one quick movement brought forth a miniature toy bag from behind the tree. As I stood bewildered, Santa said,
"Teach the children! Teach them the old meaning of Christmas. The meaning that now-a-days Christmas has forgotten."

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a FIR TREE and placed it before the mantle.
"Teach the children that the pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, depicting the everlasting hope of mankind, all the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man's thoughts turning toward heaven."

He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant STAR.
"Teach the children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long ago. God promised a Savior for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment of His promise."

He then reached into his bag and pulled out a CANDLE.
"Teach the children that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see this great light we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness."

Once again he reached into his bag and removed a WREATH and placed it on the tree.
"Teach the children that the wreath symbolizes the real nature of love. Real love never ceases. Love is one continuous round of affection."

He then pulled from his bag an ornament of himself.
"Teach the children that I, St. Nick, ( Santa Claus ) symbolize the generosity and good will we feel during the month of December."

He then brought out a HOLLY LEAF.
"Teach the children that the holly plant represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns worn by our Savior. The red holly represents the blood shed by Him."

Next he pulled from his bag a GIFT and said,
"Teach the children that God so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON..." "Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.

"Teach the children that the wise men bowed before the Holy BABE and presented HIM with gold, frankincense and myrrh. We should always give gifts in the same spirit of the wise men."

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a CANDY CANE and hung it on the tree.
"Teach the children that the candy cane represents the shepherds' crook. The crook on the staff helps to bring back strayed sheep to the flock. The candy cane is the symbol that we are our brother's keeper."

He reached in again and pulled out an ANGEL.
"Teach the children that it was the angels that heralded in the glorious news of the Savior's birth. The angels sang 'Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace and good will toward men."

Suddenly I heard a soft twinkling sound, and from his bag he pulled out a BELL.
"Teach the children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of the bell, it should ring mankind to the fold. The bell symbolizes guidance and return."

Santa looked back and was pleased. He looked back at me and I saw that the twinkle was back in his eyes. He said,
"Remember, teach the children the true meaning of Christmas and do not put me in the center, for I am but a humble servant of the One that is, and I bow down to worship HIM, our LORD, our GOD."

all those Joys and all that wonder

All those happy happy days

Looking at lights

getting belts tight

trying to save up for Christmas time

Anticipation

Deliberation

Prayers about getting right gifts

Working extra

staying up late

all well worth it

cause it will be great

That's Christmas time, Christmas time

so I wrote this rhyme

With that in mind

When I was just thinking 'bout Christmas time

I wonder what's the magic

is it all about the kids?

their happy smiling faces so excited in your midst?

Or is it just the special time with family and friends?

Or is it just the Joy at Christmas that never seems to end?

What is it about Christmas

I ask myself tonight

That filled me up with Joy

and so much sweet delight?

I think it was anticipation

to see my loved ones be

so special in their thoughtfulness in having love towards me!

I think about the times and all the Christmas's of suprises

I think about the fudge and how my Joy just always rises

When I"d think about my family opening presents just from me

That they would be so happy to find it "be their cup of tea"

To know that I had made them smile

to know that they were Jolly

surrounded by the Christmas sounds of Laughter, gifts and Holly

I think it's all the wonder

that goes back to when we were young

and think the sky's the limit and no wishes are too dumb

I think it's just the suprises

the fun

and all the laughter

the pretty wrapping paper

the lights

the sparkle

the snow

What's so special about Christmas?

I don't know

I just don't know

but please God don't let it be destroyed

(I know this poem is really silly I stopped rhyming!)

Christmas

snowflakes on your nose

new socks on your toes

gasping at the beauty

stockings filled with fruities

There is nothing like it

Christmas

When the "new light" changes to "newer light" then this "new light" does not come directly from God but the men on the governing body decide what they think God MIGHT want and they are oftentimes mistaken.

A quote from Rome herself:

The obligation of rest from work on Sunday remained somewhat indefinite for several centuries. A Council of Laodicea, held toward the end of the fourth century, was content to prescribe that on the Lord's Day the faithful were to abstain from work as far as possible.

i am a catholic and i went to confession. i promised to never commit the sins i have committed again. I asked God to please keep my sins between Him and me. i do not want others to know the wrongdoings that i have done.

after going to confession, and truly sorry for my sins, will God answer my prayer? Is it too selfish of a prayer?

I hope that after confessing my sins, other ppl will not find out and tell others what i have done.
