What about movie stars and sports stars and the like. People live on their every word, follow their fashion (or lack of), buy things just because [insert famous name here] has one.
that sounds like worship to me.

The Statue of Liberty is a symbol! Not an idol. Yeesh! You must have been listening to Pat Robertson or some right wing, off their rocker Christian station. It's people like these who give us other guy's a bad rep. Of course she is naked under the "towel", just like you are under your undergarments. The crown of thorns on "Our Lord" was driven into his head and the "thorns" on the Statue of Liberty are facing outward. The spikes on the crown of the Statue of Liberty represent he seven seas and continents of the world. And no, you can't see up the statue of liberty, what are you 5?

No it's a statue but if you wish to idolize it then yes for you yes, it's an idol . Strangely enough idolization is in the mind of the beholder.

Looks are deceiving. An idol is statuary wherein it is believed that a god inhabits. So such belief has ever been attached to the the Liberty Gal.

The mystery runs deeper than it just being an idol!
Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.

It's a statue, just like the Venus de Milo, Michelangelo's David, or the Pieta.
