Society & Culture - 22 November 2007

There are several Christians here who have used England as an example and don't see why we can't make Christianity the "official religion" (I suppose besides that whole First Amendment thing) Why? WHY must Christians plaster thier faith on every street corner, in every school, in every part of our lives and then blame the worlds woes on the fact that we all don't want to believe like them? Why is respecting thier fellow man to make thier own choices so hard? Why on earth would we want it to be the official religion? REGARDLESS of what you THINK this country was "founded on" it has EVOLVED ( Oh no the "E" word!!) into a country of melting pot faiths. People rise thier lives to get here in order to have FREEDOM OF RELGION. THAT is what America is based on, why change that?

just how much man is usurped by the enemy to hate God. The responses here truly give you a vivid understanding of how our thoughts reflect the enemy who hates God and hates man. Does anyone here truly believe that the enemy cares about man? Satan has done so much damage to so many here, by making them 1.Not believe that God is real. 2. Causing man to blame everything on God and use that as a reason to hate Him. 3. Rob these very ones of who they truly are as beings made in God's image and likeness to contain and express God. .. Something, by the way, satan never was able to do. Its no wonder He hates man.. this mere man has been given the dominion that satan craved. Been given the place of honour that he wanted.
So tell me .. what do you think as a believer of this kind of deceit and the responses toward God as seen here on R&S?

Black people with sense dont hide criminals, dont marry thugs, dont put their familys and careers on the line for a criminal (ie the stereotype that blacks dont snitch)

I mean when are people going to stop lumping us together. They dont do this with any other race. When a white person or asian person does some thing no one asks "is the whole race like that also?"

was listening to a country station earlier and they had a funny thanksgiving song, i would just like to know the name of it. its sung from the point of view of a dog, and it talks about how he likes it when kids feed him under the table and he knows hes done when his tummys the size of a basketball or something like that. any help would be great.

He's omniscient, and omnipresent huh?? Wow He must feel incredibly guilty...

if you saw a woman being gang raped, or a child being molested, wouldn't you try and stop it?? Doesn't common sense and morality move you to stop it?? Wouldn't you feel terrible if you just let it happen??

Wouldn't it be immoral, or at least amoral, NOT to stop it?? That is, if stopping it would cause you no harm...

God has the power to stop that drunk teenager from crashing. God has the power to prevent that child from being raped.

But he just sits by and watches...man if I just sat by and watched all that I'd probably hate myself.

God sits by and watches every crime that happens...He does nothing to intervene...wow He must really hate himself.
Right?

I work at Social Services, and currently we have 1,600+ children waiting for adoption (with twice as many more in overcrowded foster homes) -- many of these children borne to mothers who "didn't believe in abortion," or were talked out of it with the soothing words, "you can put your baby up for adoption." While the very large fundamentalist Christian community around here is exceptionally vocal about abortion being a sin and murder, they represent less than 5 percent of the people applying for adoption, and those that are, are not interested in mentally/physically challenged or "racially diverse" children. Gay men and women represent the largest number of people wanting to adopt, and don't care as long as they can care for a child (thank you gay men and women).

So, why don't anti-abortionists -- particularly those who demonstrate the loudest -- put their money where their mouth is?

if it didn't, then who made the the decision what books to be included in the compilation of the Bible and what books to be discarded? and if everything must be done according to what the Bible says, without the Bible saying what books to be included in the Bible, what gave the compilers any idea what books to be included in the Bible and what's to be discarded?

if it is all about the decision of group of fallable individuals, then with what did they base their decision on, and what makes the Bible infallable if fallable individuals compiled it, not to mention, fallable men wrote it?

that he was divine? If I saw someone revive a truly dead person (which Jesus is said to have done all over the place) or turn water into wine, I would NEVER doubt his divinity, and would tell everybody I know about it.

I suppose my question is: why did Jesus have only 12 apostles, and not 12 million, i.e. all his contemporaries?

unless... he actually didn't perform those miracles???
