Because the holidays are all about the perfect family gathered around for Thanksgiving or Christmas and very few people have perfect families. Some people have recently lost loved ones or have gone through a divorce or lost their job, etc.

Some people can't stand their in-laws and are forced to spend time visiting these people and other relatives they don't get along with. Kids with divorced parents are forced to choose between the two and adjust to blended families.

The holidays are also a time when domestic violence increases. There's alot more arguments over money and people can get really mean after they've had too much to drink.

Alot of reasons why people get depressed during the holidays! Hope you're not one of them.

Holidays depress people because the end of the year is not far off, Christmas is soon and no money to buy gifts or you don't know what to buy. The weather changes and people are stuck indoors with little to do or cannot see their friends. The list would be to long to continue.

AROUND THE HOLIDAYS IS USUALLY WHEN I MISS THE LOVED ONES THAT I'VE LOST THE MOST. PEOPLE WHO ARE ALONE FEEL MORE LONELY WATCHING WHAT SEEMS LIKE AND ENDLESS PARADE OF HAPPY FAMILIES. IF THAT'S NOT DEPRESSING I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS.
