Southern Baptist scare me. I'm not even trying to be mean or sarcastic, I am being dead honest. Those are some scary Christians.

Southern Baptist even though conservative, are more moderate than Primitive. Generally speaking, Southern Baptist pastors will have been to seminary (in most cases). Doctrinally they will be fairly close. Now, as far as the "just" Baptist-I never heard of any. Usually there will be another name in front. Independent, Free Will, Reformed, American, National, Missionary, and so on. There will be some groups that have slipped away doctrinally but still call themselves Baptist.
The order of service will vary greatly.

Baptists have a unique way of forming new congregations. In a dispute they take a vote and the losers move down the block. Don't expect consistency.

Southern Baptist - (If I remember properly) Are a sect of Baptist/Christians who were a part of the abolishionist part of the southern Democrats during antebellum times, and just after the Civil War...They moved north, into PA and NY when they found their group divided over the issue of slavery.
Primitive Bapstist - Are still southern Baptist, but living in the south...
And Baptist is just anyone who grew up being told you are evil if you don't believe in God...
