He's omniscient, and omnipresent huh?? Wow He must feel incredibly guilty...

if you saw a woman being gang raped, or a child being molested, wouldn't you try and stop it?? Doesn't common sense and morality move you to stop it?? Wouldn't you feel terrible if you just let it happen??

Wouldn't it be immoral, or at least amoral, NOT to stop it?? That is, if stopping it would cause you no harm...

God has the power to stop that drunk teenager from crashing. God has the power to prevent that child from being raped.

But he just sits by and watches...man if I just sat by and watched all that I'd probably hate myself.

God sits by and watches every crime that happens...He does nothing to intervene...wow He must really hate himself.
Right?

HE GIVES US CHOICES...and if YOU saw someone being raped, YOU could also give the rapist the CHOICE of keeping up the bad deed.

OR you could stop the rapist...

For some reason...Christians aren't answering the question.
blah blah blah free will.... <--- that's not an answer.

Does God hate himself for standing by, watching, as murder and rape and disease rock his creations?

Audine...very interesting, and very observant.
God's "pedestal" so to speak prevents him from understanding us...just as Christians say his nature prevents him from sinning, well then his definition also prevents him from "understanding" his creations, as only the imperfect can understand imperfection.

Then God cannot claim anything from us..as he simply does not understand how we work. hmmmm.....

Rev. Phil- very good answer. You have clearly thought about the situation, and are not simply a bleating sheep. Thank you.

Ok... you are seeing this as a human. I am atheist, but spiritual, and an EX Baptist, so let me try to give you a picture of what people think they are dealing with when they believe in god...

Religious people are not observant of the human side of God. They are constantaly programmed to believe that God is 'something else' ...and we can't reach that mentality. They put it in the catagory of spirit. This means that with all this horrible stuff going on in the world, they will justify the existance of God, by saying he let's things come and go.

And herein lies the problem with believing in (a) God...

When you make justifications of a higher, omnipotent thing that controls all of your life and your world, you lose sight of the fact that Life honestly isn't controlled by anyone but all of us! Something that is not here, not like us, can't possbily understand how we work. So even if God were on earth, he wouldn't get it! He is omnipotent, ominiscient.... what more do you need...

Look at Paris Hilton. When you have everything, you FEEL nothing... that is what the true pseudo God is.

Hello:

It is very true that some awful things happen in this thing called life, however because we do not have access to all the answers/information we cannot really know that a) there really is a god b) why there is evil in the world and c) why a god would allow it (as well as about everything else).

We don't know the reason why we live this life...but if the option to choose what we will call evil were not there then we would never really be tested as to what we would choose.

If the only things in this would were good and nice...then good and nice would lose their meaning.

We don't know if there is a reason why there must be suffering in the world...if suffering make joy possible...if the ability to dole out joy or suffering is our test.

Who knows. Its possible that the reason is that there is no God.

But If every time I was about to sin God jumped in and stopped me...then what would be the big deal? where would he have to draw the line? why bother with free will at all?

Really we can't know, but I hope this helps

Rev Phil

Let's see God gave the choice to the guys raping the woman. He gave the teenager the choice to not get behind the wheel. We are God's children and we have to learn from our mistakes just our parents did( which the way you sound by this question you never had to own up to your mistakes.) Don't you really think that it hurts God(Which I don't really understand how you would ask this question being you believe their isn't a God)to see what his children has become.

God has been redefined and corrected so many times that what's left is a personality that is deeply psychotic, schizophrenia being one of the main manifestations.

Very disturbed additions by the very disturbed St, Augustine such as the eucharist and disambiguation (eating the body while drinking the blood of christ) to name two. lol
I meant to add another to make "two" so, how about the masochistic idea of "original sin".

If there really were a god and stone-age and Mesopotamian man were correct, She/ He/ It would surely not be guilty of all the ridiculous claims made by just any old true believer.

Why would God stop it? In the Bible, God kills women, children, animals - all life on earth (except for that drunkard and his family). God orders men to kill each other, rip up pregnant women, kill all male children and keep the virgin girls as (sex?) slaves.

God loves blood and the smell of burning flesh and wants us to make burnt sacrifices for Him. He doesn't sound like a kinder, gentler kind of God to me. He sounds like a monster. So why would he stop anyone from doing anthing?
