What positive things have you learned from the people that provoke the most resentment and animosity in you? Are you grateful for their presence in your life?

I just read an article that said originally Thanksgiving was more of a harvest celebration and that with that harvest celebration, thanks was given to God for the bounty. It seemed like their was a church service, then everyone sort of gathered to partake of the bountiful harvest together.
So, do you think that for those who wanted to, a religious service should also be held for Thanksgiving? Sort of a way to refocus on the giving thanks part of the day, and less on football and gorging ourselves.

And love exists then God must exist. Even if love is just a cocktail of chemicals in the brain that does not change the human experience that is love. It's also bigger than romantic love it's the love of family, of friends and of your fellow man.

I'm 26, and I got my own office a year ago. I decided to decorate it with all of the medal I won when I was in elementary from gymnastics and karate. The medals from middleschool and highschool for swimming. I have 2 trophies from highschool for my hockey team and skateboarding. From college I have my medals from cycling, and the one from when I boxed on the local ring along with a shirtless pic of me from that day. I got my underwater scuba pics. I got some pictures of me figure skating, and from football and baseball games.
I have a pic of me rockclining.
But pople seem to have a problem with the picture of me in speedos getting a silver medal on the state meets 4 years ago. They also seem to have a problem with a newspaper clip I framed of me in posers in bodybuilders competition. I don't lift weight much, but apparently I look like someone who does, and I also keep the trophy in the office.

So I have 3 shirtless pics in my office, 2 of them I'm in briefs.
Is that so wrong?

Note to achtung : when you claim most who leave the organization is due to fornication, and you fail to show any statistical souces.. your credibility sinks to sub-zero. At least be a man and list your sources or stop giving the JWs a bad rep.

i found it on yahoo answers
One day Three men were walking
along and came upon a raging, violent
river. They needed to get to the other
side, but had no idea of how to do it.

The first man prayed to GOD saying,
"Please GOD, give me the strength to
cross this river." POOF!!
GOD gave him big arms and strong legs
and he was able to swim across the
river in about 3 hours.

Seeing this, the second man prayed to GOD
saying, "Please GOD, give me the strength to
and ability to cross this river. POOF!!
GOD gave him a rowboat and he was able
to row across the river in about one hour.

The third man had seen how this worked out for
the other two, so he prayed to GOD saying,
"Please GOD, give me the strength, ability,
and intelligence to cross this river."

POOF!!

GOD turned him into a woman.
She looked at the map, then
walked across the bridge.

Not this time of year, of course. We wouldn't want to confuse it with any other holiday celebrations. We could put it in June or sometime when nothing else is happening. Thinksgiving, a special time for free thinkers to reflect on the universe.

What say you?

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving to *everyone*, no matter your beliefs. I hope you all enjoy the day with your friends and family.

LONDON - This was a bug you couldn't swat and definitely couldn't step on. British scientists have stumbled across a fossilized claw, part of an ancient sea scorpion, that is of such large proportion it would make the entire creature the biggest bug ever.
How big? Bigger than you, and at 8 feet long as big as some Smart cars.
The discovery in 390-million-year-old rocks suggests that spiders, insects, crabs and similar creatures were far larger in the past than previously thought, said Simon Braddy, a University of Bristol paleontologist and one of the study's three authors.
"This is an amazing discovery," he said Tuesday.
"We have known for some time that the fossil record yields monster millipedes, super-sized scorpions, colossal cockroaches, and jumbo dragonflies. But we never realized until now just how big some of these ancient creepy-crawlies were," he said.
The research found a type of sea scorpion that was almost half a yard longer than previous estimates and the largest one ever to have evolved.

Now that I have a few years on me (40+ to be precise), here's
what I have discovered:

* I finally got my head together, now my body is falling apart

* I started out with nothing, still have most of it
* My wild oats have turned to prunes and All Bran
* Funny, I don't remember being absent minded
* All reports are in. Life is officially unfair
* If all is not lost, where is it?
* It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser
* Some days you're the dog, some days your the hydrant

* I wish the buck stopped here. I sure could use a few.....

* Kids in the back seat cause accidents; accidents in the
back seat cause kids
* It's hard to make a comeback when you haven't
been anywhere
* Only time the world beats a path to your door is when you
are in the bathroom
* If God wanted me to touch my toes, He would have put them
on my knees
*When I am finally holding all the cards, why does everyone
decide to play chess?

I guess we ultimately can't decide who our chidlren marry (that would be very middle eastern) but, I surely wouldn't want my daughter marrying a Muslim man. Their treatment of women is absolutely deplorable. Don't give me this "few bad apples" nonsense.
