I'm 26, and I got my own office a year ago. I decided to decorate it with all of the medal I won when I was in elementary from gymnastics and karate. The medals from middleschool and highschool for swimming. I have 2 trophies from highschool for my hockey team and skateboarding. From college I have my medals from cycling, and the one from when I boxed on the local ring along with a shirtless pic of me from that day. I got my underwater scuba pics. I got some pictures of me figure skating, and from football and baseball games.
I have a pic of me rockclining.
But pople seem to have a problem with the picture of me in speedos getting a silver medal on the state meets 4 years ago. They also seem to have a problem with a newspaper clip I framed of me in posers in bodybuilders competition. I don't lift weight much, but apparently I look like someone who does, and I also keep the trophy in the office.

So I have 3 shirtless pics in my office, 2 of them I'm in briefs.
Is that so wrong?

No but people are weird. If you are here in the US, I am not surprised. When I moved back here from Europe at 17 I went to the beach with my speedos and a lot of people thought that was weird... When it comes to "sex" we're very weird.

Don't they show the Olympic swimming on TV? Maybe nobody watches it because of the speedos. lol

Yes dude, that is completely inappropriate for an office environment. It is one thing to have a pic or 2 of family and even from a vacation, but it sounds like you went overboard. Think about it this way, you may be a good looking guy with a nice body, but suppose fatboy next to you puts up those same pics. disgusting. What if the fat chick came in and put up bikini pics, u would choke on them. Noone wants to see a dude in speedos at any time. You are in a corporate environment, back the personal stuff down a bit. One or 2 pics(clothed) and a trophy or 2 will let everyone know you are a bad ***

By putting up every single trophy you've ever won, you come off as a very egotisical gloater. Bascially, when people walk into your office, they get the "I'm better than you" vibe from it. No one likes a show off. I'm sure you're proud of your accomplishments, but take down most of the trophies, awards, etc. and put up some tasteful pictures in their place.

Also, I'm sure you're very proud of the fact that you won a swimming competition, but an office is no place for a picture of anyone is a speedo. I'm sorry, but that's very inappropriate and that should be the first thing you take down.

As a 27 year old Information Technology Solutions manager with my own office...let me fill you in on a few things

1. This is the corporate world. No one gives two shi*s about your past accomplishments relating to boxing or swimming.

2. Grow up. Do you see any women with pictures of them in thong bikinis in their office?

3. The office is no place for half naked pictures. It's a conservative enviornment. The sooner you get with the program, the longer you'll keep your job.

4. Get over yourself. It definetly might seem to the people in the office that you're arrogant full of yourself and trying to show your body off. But they're probably upset because it's strange.

5. Try putting up a picture of your family. People will oooo and ahhh over your kids or your family. Instead of snickering behind your back talking about how wierd you are for having half naked pictures or calling you a homosexual for being a guy in speedos.

Do you really think decorating your office with medals from elementary school on up is professional? Are you in sports? Shrines like this are usually seen in parents' living rooms, not in offices. Pick one or two of your favorite shots and bring the rest home.

You should act 26 -- not 12. Diplomas and professional awards in offices -- trophies from school at home.

I think it's kind of creepy. And displaying medals and whatnot dating back to elementary school is a bit weird. I personally think pictures of oneself should be kept to a minimum in a professional environment, i.e., a few family pics or travel pics is pretty standard, but a shrine is inappropriate. And unless you're a personal trainer, I think pictures of you posing in a bodybuilding competition and in speedos is just way over the top.

Let's just say that speedos leave little to the imagination. Many people would not want that revealing of a picture to be in the workplace. Apparently you don't have too many problems with pictures looking at pictures of your body, but in that case people might think that you are showing off or trying to attract (sexual) attention. I think it's okay to have pictures up in the office, but large pictures that are posted in prominent locations are likely to attract a lot of eyes. Perhaps a smaller picture placed where you can enjoy it would be a better choice.

I don't know if you're serious, joking, or trying to get a rise out of people. I don't care.

Regardless of the situation in which the pictures were taken, having pictures of yourself in a Speedo in your office is UNPROFESSIONAL. People want to see pictures of the person they're doing business with in a professional manner. Seeing all those pictures of you without your clothes on is going to send clients away because (1) they think you're an egotistical b*****d, and (2) they think you don't know how to behave in a professional way. If you want to look at yourself all day, get yourself ONE nice professional shot IN CLOTHES and get rid of all the others. Save those for your home (preferably your bedroom or somewhere else just as private).

I'm not that big into decorating an office. I find it distracts workers from accomplishing their tasks. Also, do your co-workers have to come into your office? If so, then yes, it is wrong. Plus, why do you need to decorate? Put that stuff up at home, not on your employer's space. A lot of workplaces are now making it a rule that you cannot have personal items at work areas. I think it is a good idea. Sorry.

YES! Well, actuall, it's more inappropriate than wrong. What would you think of walking into an office to make a business deal and seeing the owner of the office in briefs, speedos, and holding trophies? I would think it would be totally inappropriate because you're displaying your...um... body to all of your co-workers. It would be like seeing your friend in pantyhose and a bra. Save it for your house!

There's a thing called "Class". By displaying such personal photos in skimpy attire you are showing you do not have any!

I have a feeling it's not just the speedo pics people have a problem with. It's just that they choose to mention those in hopes you can take a well needed "HINT". From your question it is apparent you cannot take one. SO here it is..plain & simple...

Take down the self absorbed, tasteless, tacky pictures!
