LONDON - This was a bug you couldn't swat and definitely couldn't step on. British scientists have stumbled across a fossilized claw, part of an ancient sea scorpion, that is of such large proportion it would make the entire creature the biggest bug ever.
How big? Bigger than you, and at 8 feet long as big as some Smart cars.
The discovery in 390-million-year-old rocks suggests that spiders, insects, crabs and similar creatures were far larger in the past than previously thought, said Simon Braddy, a University of Bristol paleontologist and one of the study's three authors.
"This is an amazing discovery," he said Tuesday.
"We have known for some time that the fossil record yields monster millipedes, super-sized scorpions, colossal cockroaches, and jumbo dragonflies. But we never realized until now just how big some of these ancient creepy-crawlies were," he said.
The research found a type of sea scorpion that was almost half a yard longer than previous estimates and the largest one ever to have evolved.

looks like the fundies have missed your point. i understand that you are asking "what purpose would such a creature have and why would god have created it".....well, not believing in the god of Genesis, i don't need to answer this question.

it seems that only the ones too stupid to understand your question are the ones venturing an answer. those who understand it realize there is no answer.

A good Christian answerer has said that the life jacket for evolution is the incredible length of time it claims to have needed to take place. I don't think I quoted it exactly but I think that's the general concept.

Christians don't apologize for having beliefs that extend only to what is supported by the bible and only to what has happened within the preceding 6 or 7 thousand years, "in time."

As far as something begin found that is remarkable, if it can be used to cast doubt on the word of God, it will be.

Just think of it - It's claw alone would have fed a family of six - but getting it in the oven might have been a bit of a problem.

No it's not Satan. It's an insect from pre-flood days when everything lived longer and grew bigger. I love it when science confirms what the Bible already says.
And yeah, you can't trust any of the dates mainstream "science" gives you. They use a method that is pre-rigged to give them million year results. If you don't believe me, look it up. Even secular sources admit the method isn't accurate if the test object is less than millions of years old.

Circular reasoning; they date the flosses by the layers and the layers by the flosses. How much sense does that make?

And they make this assumption on the discovery of ONE fossil.
Well I guess that explains how they validate the theory of evolution.
Thousands of facts against it, so it only takes one to 'prove' it.
