About the same thing as would happen if Mecca got nuked.

Lots of dead, radiation poisoning and general chaos from the religious uprisings in reprisal.

Peace.

If you believe in Biblical Prophecy it is a complete impossibility. In order for the 2nd coming to take place the Dome of the Rock, one way or another, has to be destroyed and the Temple must be rebuilt. Believe it or not, all the supplies that are required to rebuild the temple are already stored away for the moment the Dome of the Rock falls. Don't worry about Israel being nuked, but do watch out for the end of the Dome of the Rock. When this happens, the end times are near.

Many thought that one of Iraq's scuds would have been a realistic way for the Dome of the Rock to fall or something similar.

Like Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Jerusalem would rebuild.

There would be a massive retaliation by Israel/allies of Israel which may or may not include nuclear weapons.

Based on Osama bin Laden still being alive, it would mean that whoever launched the Jerusalem nuclear attack would still be enjoying life and making martyr tapes which would be shown on all the major TV networks in the USA: ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.

Bush, Jr. would zealously promise to go after the evildoers but the evildoers would linger around as has Osama bin Laden since 2001.

About the same thing that would happen if Washington, New York, San Francisco and/or Los Angeles got nuked.

Depends who did the nuking.

If it was Russia, China, North Korea, Pakistan or Iran, then world war. If it was a terrorist group, a a greatly extended war on terror.

But I can't think of any group who would do that, as the city is sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims. China and India, the largest non-Abrahamic powers, have good relations with Israel. North Korea's missles can't reach Jerusalem.

G-d forbid that it should ever happen. It is the home of Judaism, Islam, Christianity. I have spent time there and it is a most special place.

Luckily, or rather out of necessity, the Israeli intelligence service is rather good. So hopefully they would detect any plans to attack Jerusalem well ahead of the event.

Most likely whas historically happened in Judeo-Christianity: revisionists would emergefrom the dashed hopes of the various Jewish/ Christian sects and the belief system would go through an extended period of ferment then new syntheses would emerge from that process of reflective questioning. That's my guess, anyway.

There would be a great disturbance in the force; it would be as if millions of voices cried out, and then were suddenly silenced...

people would be upset for a little while, then, we would start a new war somewhere else

It won't because Jerusalem is the center of Bible prophecy, and it will survive and get an Extreme Makeover-City Edition by God Himself.

However, there will be an exchange, and there will be an nuclear explosion in Israel, but it will miss its target. (ref. Ezekiel). There will also be another hit on Babylon, and that will be a direct hit. (ref. Revelation)

Israel has only one ally and that is the U.S.,god help anyone who would think of nuking a U.S. ally. I do not however believe this would start a world war. I believe all of the other powerful countries in the world would sympathize with poor Israel.
