opposing coach sent a white person to guard him ? is he a racist against his own race or does he simply feel that his own race are inferiorly built to guard him and he got vexed at the insult of a perceived inferiorly built person trying to guard him or is he just an egomaniac whose trail of thought goes like >>> if he is sending a white person to guard me>>>>then he must think that i am not good enough or i suck.

The interviewer asked Bird, "Does the NBA lack enough white superstars in your opinion?"
Bird replied that it would be good to have more white superstars in the game, because it would appeal to the fan base, which is largely white.
However, he points out that basketball is "a black man's game, and it will be forever. I mean, the greatest athletes in the world are African-American."
So he feels that black and Hispanic players are the best players in the league, and he wants to play against the best.
I don't think he meant to be racist against his own race or imply that white guys are inherently worse players - he's just commenting on the fact that professional basketball is dominated by black players, and the black players are usually the best.

NO, he is a realist. African-Americans are the greatest athletes in the world.
This is pretty much accepted, but it speaks volumes about our culture. You can say "african americans have the best physical talent in the world" and nobody will care. If you say "Asians or Whites have the best intellectual talent in the world" people will bash you to no end.
Its called a double standard. And yes, he said that and its not racist at all. Unless you yourself have issues with reality.

The main problem people have with generalizations are that 85% of time, they're right.

probably an egomaniac. OR he did think white men cant play as well....which in turn would make him a mediocre player also.
