It's a natual reaction. They think of Santa, and they associate gift giving, and a spirit of friendliness, warmth, and holiday cheer with him. People start being nice to eachother, giving eachother more hugs and kisses, saying nice things to one another and are generally, just plain polite to eachother.

Does it bother you that Santa has this affect on people, while religions that are supposed to foster these things seem to push people apart more than anything else?

I am atttending a Thanksgiving dinner and plan to bring a dessert or a side. Should I take the food in a disposable dish that can be thrown away after the dinner or should I buy a new dish and leave the dish as a hostess gift? If so, how do I "gift" it in a way that the hostess knows she can keep it?

I moved to Texas in July of 2003 and have not been able to find any nice women to hang out with from time to time. I am african-american and the one thing that I have noticed is that other african-american women seem to be very rude, distant and cliquish. They already have their circle of friends and don’t seem to want to meet new people. Everyone, regardless of your race, has an attitude from time to time – I know I do. But in general, I am always polite and make it a habit to speak and smile at anyone who crosses my path. Some people will smile back. Some people will speak. But out of everyone the african-american women seem to be the worst. They look right past you like you’re invisible. If they do speak back or smile they roll their eyes after doing it. I rarely go out to clubs anymore because I am married. But on occasion I will go to a bar or restaurant or something and there will be a group of african-american women.

Where do you meet people? I have friends where I live but my family and I are moving and I was just wondering to myself if I will ever have friends there. I do not like to socialize at work, I do not go to church...........so where do adults find friends, what are your experiences with adult friendships?

i am very curious to this, as sometimes my faith is stronger and then sometimes i feel like i dont have any belief at all. why is this?

i've been in love with my best friend for months now but because she is with someone else she basically told me the other day that we will never be together, despite the fact that she told me she liked me before she started with this guy.
i had thought that we might eventually get married and because she wants to save herself for marriage then that would be when i finally had sex
but now there is another girl who has already said she wants to have sex with me. i dont love her and i never will. and i know it sounds kinda gay but i always thought my first time would be with someone i love.
i dont know whether or not i should have sex with this other girl

Capital punishment is something reserved for the most heinous of crimes. What were the crimes that everybody (except Noah's clan) was committing that justified killing them all?

We're they all murderers? I don't think so or else they would have all killed each other. We're they all taking God's name, or coveting their neighbor's wives or other relatively trivial things?

I'm guessing that very few of them actually committed crimes that would warrant the death penalty if brought before the U.S. legal system. Why then could God morally get away with it?

but all meating animals kill for food, humans included. However, humans also kill for pleasure in the name of sport or culture. Does the bible differentiate between killing of animals for food or pleasure or is it simply that we shouldn´t kill each other.

Every second person; either doesn't believe in religion, or just doesn't believe in christianity, and they let it known. It's really kind of frustrating but amusing at the same time. We are planning a Christmas party at our house. My sister-in law has asked to bring her small dog. I don't think it is a good idea with all the people, presents, and food. I want the party to be about family, not centered around her dog running around the house. She is typically vocal about everything and always has something to say. Berkeley (a notoriously secularist institution) has had 22 affiliates who were awared a Nobel Prize whereas the Pontifical Academy of Sciences has had 41 (all but one of which were in fields of science). So why do secularists suck so badly at science compared to Christians when it's supposed to be the foundation of their beliefs? I don't get it.

Christian theology says that Jesus Christ has ETERNALLY been the Son of God, that he was not created. Jehovah's Witnesses say that Jesus Christ was the firstborn. What does the Bible say? And if a religion has a false take on Jesus Christ, can they legitimately claim to be Christians? What would Christ say?
