I don't believe in Heaven and Hell because they are such weird ideas. The land of the Tele-tubbies makes more sense.
When I was little I prayed, well I thought I did, but I never knew if I was doing it properly. Anyway nothing happened and it was boring and hurt my knees, so I gave it up.
Since then I have found that meditative breathing exercises can relax me and make me more peaceful, but that doesn't seem to have anything to do with God....

I do not believe in any mythical realms especially Heaven and Hell. Why ? ... ummm because they are mythical.
Prayer is mere superstition and the people who pray are superstitious people.

Furthermore prayer actually causes more suffering - just look at the study done by Paul Gregory.
Addendum:
The Christian ideas of Heaven and Hell are not the same as Jesus and his disciples would have understood them.
All the ‘ Hell ‘ words in the Bible are Mistranslations Sheol , Hades , Gehenna and Tartarus ... none of these are Hell , they have all been Mistranslated as Hell by prejudice and bias Biblical authors more interested in supporting their faith rather than producing faithful translations. These days we are starting to see Bibles without the word Hell in it.
Heaven is the Dwelling place of God only , Shekinah, the space between the two Cherubim on the Ark of the covenant , behind the 2nd curtain in the Most Holy Place . All Jews , including Jesus and the 12 disciples know that only God exists Heaven , not anything or anyone else , not even Jesus.
Christians are ignorant of the meaning of their own scripture , they just don’t know how to read the Bible correctly.

Negative on heaven or hell, when we die we're just dead. This isn't the most fun way of thinking, but it makes you appreciate life much more. I don’t look forward to the after life with the same zeal that Christians do, it’s almost as if they would want to end the world tomorrow so they can go to heaven and not have to deal with all the trials and tribulations of life.
I strongly believe in the power of 'prayer' or you can call it meditation or positive thinking. When one thinks of all the good things in their life and is thankful for them, it helps you to have a deeper appreciation for what is good in life. When one brings all their struggles in their life to the forefront of their mind it helps one organize them and plan out how they'll get through them all.
Whether you’re praying to that voice in your head or to God, it’s beneficial either way.

God is love.
Heaven is being in the presance of love.
Hell is moving away from the presance of love.
I have experienced heaven and hell within my life. Usually the source of both heaven and hell come from the ppl I allow to get closest to me. I also have a sharp awareness that I am more than my physical body, and mind. There is a soul; my soul. I have come to understand (through self exploration & meditation) that my soul is eternal and that when my body is decayed and nothing more than dirt ... well, I expect to have a soul that based off my actions here and now will be closer to love or further away from love. I can't comprehend how my soul feels without my body, but I have an awareness which leads me to fear that it will be much more intense than it is here & now.

No, they are polarised concepts of good and evil in the 'afterlife' for the purpose of making people aspire to Heaven by being good. I do not believe in either, nor do I believe in religion or an afterlife. I do not 'do' blind faith, therefore my faith is in humans (humanism) and Science. Religion was devised to unite an otherwise scattered population and exert some control and moral guidelines.

No I do not believe in heaven and hell as I do not believe in christianity nor its deity (nor any other).
There is no empirical evidence to suggest that such places actually exist.
No I don't believe prayer works, if anything it is merely a placebo and escape rather than digging in and solving the issue at hand.

Yes.
Left to themselves, humans are limited and tend to tie themselves in agonising mental knots. Given eternal life, everyone would do this. Since we have eternal life, we need help to cope with unending experience. By a miracle, God's love can untangle these knots for us, i.e. God can make eternal existence bearable. The knots are hell, God's untanglement is heaven.
Sometimes you can see people doing this to themselves. For instance, failure to take responsibility may lead to blaming others for everything, which in turn leads to the view that everyone else is out to get one, so one ends up with no friends and perceiving the whole world is a threat. This is an example of a personal hell from which it is very difficult to escape, but it is also one's responsibility. In such a state, one could not accept God's or anyone else's love. That is why hell is compatible with God's love.
Hell is something one does to oneself, and is partly created by loss of integrity. If one does anything which involves not living authentically, this will eventually result in extreme suffering for oneself, because it will create these knots in oneself. Only God can untie them, but the question is, who is God?

I can't answer your first question. I'm really confused, as well. But I think that prayer really works, especially if you want to make you feel better. In my opinion, prayer is just a way to emit positive energy. Hope my answer really helped you.

Believes in neither heaven nor hell.
All part of mythology.
And as far as praying, I prefer a wishing well because it takes less time and has the same success rate.
