We keep answering this question but apparently Christians in general don't like the responses, since it's asked over and over.

Doesn't it ever occur to you that maybe, as Gamla Joe notes, we know more about what our messiah would be like then you as Christians do?

The Tanakh (old testament) is very specific: the real messiah would bring, among other things, world peace. This and various other signs and events DID NOT HAPPEN.

Jesus was a Jew; he died a practising Jew when the Romans crucified him. Those that then billed him as the messiah, for example Paul, did not once meet Jesus.

And yet this doesn't appear to bother any of you?

No, you are incorrect, actually. There is nothing, absolutely nothing in the Tanakh (old testament) which refers to Jesus. He is not mentioned at all, and certainly not by name.

Moreover, you are wrong when you claim that 'some Jews today recognise Jesus as the messiah'.
No Jews do this. They can't: to embrace Jesus as messiah goes against Judaic theology and law. Only self-named 'messianic jews' will accept Jesus and they are not Jewish.

Interesting question, it shows a measure of understanding on your part that even some nominal christians don't have.

The Bible gives us clues as to why many, not all, of the Jewish leaders rejected the fact that Jesus is the Messiah of Israel.

It is obvious that most Jewish leaders and the people rejected Jesus as the Messiah/Savior because it went against what the Jewish religion had become. Most Jews were not looking for a Messiah, they were looking for a King. They were neglecting the reading of the Torah which, if they had been studying it, would have realized by Jesus' words and actions that He was the Messiah of Israel. (Isaiah 53)

Many of the leaders of Israel were jealous of Jesus because they incorrectly accused Him of being a blasphemer and because of His popularity with the people. Therefore they consorted to have him killed. Unknowingly, by doing this they were fulfilling the prophesies concerning the sin atoning sacrifice that the Messiah would accomplish at Calvary.

Some interesting facts. All the books of the Bible including the New Testament were Jews, (with the possible exception of Luke the physician). The first 3,000 christians were Jews that accepted Jesus as their Savior, Lord, and Messiah.

Some Jews converted later, the Apostle Paul was one leader of the Jews that had reject Jesus as the Messiah and had persecuted christians. After his conversion he became the most prolific writer of the New Testament.

There are Jews today that are accepting Jesus as Savior and Messiah, they recognize that He is the Christ, the annointed One of God.

To whom are you directing this question? Do you want a real answer from a Jewish person or a presumed answer from a Christian or Muslim who use questions like this to denigrate the Jewish religion? This question has been asked and answered by Jews over and over again. Didn't you ever see those?

Simply because Jesus did not fulfill the prophesies of the Old Testament--eg--the Messiah was to bring about lasting world peace.

Because he didn't satisfy the requirements for a messiah. The Jewish messiah would deliver them from evil, and the century after Jesus was one of the worst for Jews, where Rome sacked Judea and destroyed their new Temple.

The Jews were expecting a King who would defeat their enemies in battle...not a humble prophet teaching love and forgivness.

Jesus did not fit their idea of the Messiah.

Just as the Gentiles were divided in acceptance of Him, and are even today. Only those who God calls to repentance will believe.

Because Jesus was only a savior in one sense, not the ones many Christians would like him to be. He is a savior in that he taught humanity how to behave to their fullest soul potential. But he isn't going to do your work for you.

because maybe they know what the requirements are for their own messiah a bit more than Christians do?
