I was listening to a cd w/ this song & it made me realize we seem to want so much more than Jesus got, he was born into a cave & laid in hay & wrapped in a new sleeper ? no ,. in swaddling clothes, rags What is UR take on this ? P
The garment of life, be it tattered & torn,
the cloak of the soldier is withered & worn.
But what child is this that was poverty-born, the peace of Christmas Day.
The branch that bears the bright holly, the dove that rests in yonder tree.
The light that shines for all to see, the peace of Christmas Day.
The hope that has slumbered for 2000 years,
the promise that silenced 1000 fears.
A faith that can hobble an ocean of tears, the peace of Christmas Day.
Add all the grief that people may bear, total the strife, the troubles & care.
Put them in columns & leave them right there, the peace of Christmas Day.
John Denver sings it, "The Peace Carol" (with the Muppets)

Me,
I give all the Glory to GOD for all the wonderful things he has given to us, for the ability to have a wonderful dinner with great food to share with family and friends, for the ability to share our gifts with other people less forunate.
Sharing GOD's love is Thanksgiving.... IMHO.
For the last few years always Deep Fry the Turkey the best way to eat a most delicious bird!

What do you think about it if you have?

Do you think God has other books that are not in the Bible?

Personaly I believe there is. I AM VERY SKEPTICAL ABOUT OTHER BOOKS. I have seen much false teacing in them. However the Bible in the book of Jude speaks of Enoch.

Jude 1:14
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

Also Jasher was also mentioned.
Joshua 10:13
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
2 Samuel 1:18
(Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)

KIng David does not give reference but does mention things Enoch speaks about.

that it is mostly ethnic folks ? first off heres the linkhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071119/ts_nm/usa_prisons_dc

now there is 300 million of us in america. 13 percent black (if we are supposed to believe the stats) 15 percent hispanic and say about 60 percent white.
13 percent of 300,000,000 is 39 million black folk. now i am going to assume that half of these are men =19 million black men. i am going to assume that about 6 million are below 10yrs of age. leaving us with 13 millon black men. according to the stats a third will be or are incarcerated = 4.3 million incarcerated now or in the past black men.
WHITE FOLK=60 PERCENT of 300,000,000= 180 million white folk. half are women=90 million white men. give the under 10 about 5 million (low birth rate in caucasians)=85 million white men. according to the stats about 17 percent are incarcerated=17 percent of 85million= 15 million incarcerated white men. SO WE HAVE 15 MILLION INCARCERATED WHITE MEN AS OPPOSED TO 4.3 MILLION BLACK

between all the races or ethnic backgrounds which do you prefer? I prefer(for me) either white or latino. white because they're sensitive when it comes to love and they dont argue (most of the time) and latino because i'm part mexican and i just think that family's number 1 and hispanics are all about family :). i'm not saying anything about other races being better or worse because no race is better than teh other. were all the same species(humans)i never dated an italian or french. just whites..god that sounds bad. i dont really know how to put it but dont take it to offense.

A. Jesus
B. Mohommed
C. Buddha

And what kind of food would you choose for the dinner?

Edit: I would cheat and invite both Jesus, and Buddha to dinner. I would have many questions for Jesus, and I just simply thing Buddha is the more knowledgable of the three.

I dislike Indian food, so Buddha would not be allowed to choose the meal. And I don't want Jesus inviting us to any tax collectors houses, so he wouldn't be able to choose either.

Some say that is not the issue. Well some say otherwise...
Christmas is a time of sharing joy, and peace with others.
Giving gifts, and whatever your hearts desire. But most
people associate it, with the birth of Jesus Christ. All
around the world, too. I wonder why atheist like to
celebrate Christmas, though. Of course you don't have
to be religious or anything, to do so. But the center of it
all, is still around Christ. For those who don't know.
A mere contradication, or confliction of beliefs. Hmmmm.
What is your take on this matter, Yahoo ? And for all
my atheist friends, why do you celebrate Christmas ?
Be honest about it. Best answer wins. ***

If so, for what reasons?

I have become very disappointed in the policies and aims of the GOP since halfway through Bush's first term. There was a pretense of moral authority when coming into the White House (on the heels of Clinton's sexual indiscretions), but that has all gone awash for me with unjust wars, increased fuel dependence, raping natural resources, fighting nationalized health care for children, protecting corporate interests that ultimately ruin local economies, and then some. I am pro-life, but Republicans do not have a monopoly on this view, as many, many Republican candidates are, at least in practice, pro-choice. And since pro-life Bush has been in office, not even laws already on the books are being enforced. In other words, being "pro-life" is no longer a reason to be a Republican and I think this will be more obvious on the GOP '08 ticket.

What do you think?

and you are asking for his... divine intervention for lack of a better word... and his assistance on a matter - let's say you are applying for a new job or are having some scary medical tests performed or something like this... It's very easy to ask a believer to...keep you in their prayers... but a non-believer may be offended by this... So since I believe in the power of positive thought, is it wrong of me to ask all that I care about - believers and non-believers alike to keep me in their thoughts?

Is it offensive to ask something that may go against someone's particular beliefs? I mean - If I'm asking an atheist to keep me in their thoughts, and I believe this will aid in a positive outcome, would that be offensive to them since they don't believe that there is anything to "pray" to? Would that still be considered a kind of prayer? Is it equally offensive to respond to a believer's request for prayer with a simple "I'll keep you in my thoughts" Not sure of the ettiquette
