Rational: having reason or understanding

So, if you've never truly experienced a god, and there is no proof, or reason to believe that there is one, is there any REAL reason to believe in a deity?

If you are ever at a loss to support a flagging conversation, introduce the subject of eating. ~ Leigh Hunt

I think this is pretty good. I am not a really good conversationalist either.....

Wouldn't it be fun for those interested here to get together for a Meet & Greet Cruise? 'Groups' get discounts and what with two to a cabin it would not be expensive and all meals are included....we could have a great time!!

Since the justification for atheism seems to be that, since God is not measurable (or at least has not been measured), does it stand to reason that gravitation waves, which are predicted by General Relativity, also do not exist since they have not been measured (despite methods devised and constructed to do so)?

Recently the rate of race based hate crimes has gone up (in the last year). What do you think is to blame for it? Can we just learn to recognize our differences (not ignore them) and appreciate each other for them? Maybe even love each other for them?

Colorblindness is not working. We need to SEE each other for who we really are and embrace the things that make us different.

Holla if ya hear me!

Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

Who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.
Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?
And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed.
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way

A new world order is about to emerge on the political and economic scene. Nothing like it has occurred on earth for the past 3000 years. It will be a system of government that is based on different concepts than the ones we have been used to over the past three millennia-http://www.askelm.com/prophecy/p900601.htm
Thoughts?

If you beleive this wouldn't that mean you have more power than Christ? Or that God's plan of defeating Satan at the cross was not perfect? God's word says once we believe we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. If that is so, how can we lose it? What sat you?

I'm an atheist. I've been married twice. Both of the women I married claimed to believe in God and said they were Christian. Both of them cheated on me with other men who also claimed to believe in God.

The woman I am presently seeing is Catholic, and has twice had romantic relationships in the past with married men. I've never cheated, and none of the atheists I know have cheated either. But several of my "God fearing" friends have had affairs. I've also noted that my atheist friends lie less, & are more forgiving and tolerant of other people's choices and lifestyles.

This is not to say that I don't know Christians who struggle daily to remain true to their faith. But why should it be such a struggle?

In short, I don't generally use anectdotal evidence to formulate general opinions, but it seems to me that the ideals of Christianity tend to be more easily followed by people who don't believe in God. Has anybody else noticed this?

And please explain. Don't just say: "it damages marriage" or "it damages society" without saying how.

And I'm NOT asking about gay adoption here. That's an entirely different issue.

My b/f s family is Jehovah witness and they keep telling me that my life is wrong and it pisses me off they pressure me to go to meetings and book study and read awake and watchtower. I am open to anything but I do not appreciate being pressured! They tell me everything I believe is wrong, they don’t even know because they don’t take the time to ask me what I do believe. They want my son to be a Jehovah witness. I am all for my son believing in god, but they say the man is the one in charge of making the final decision and if my b/f wants him to be Jehovah witness that is what he will be. That’s a bunch of crap.

What do you people think of about Muslims? Why does such a large amount of people hate them, and don't any one who answers (haters of muslims) say because it's all there fault about 9/11, that was due to a bunch of idiots messing up, you don't hear people in Canada or any other foreign country saying that America and everyone there is bad because some American guy decided to go around killing a family or 2. And if "ALL" non-muslims are so good then why are the jails around the country filled with Christian men and woman? And all the rascists out there, what are you rascist about, what do you say about them, and why? Everyone is human, why doesn't everyone just accept that.

Srry about this being so random, I was just reading a whole bunch of rascist comments against this kind of stuff and it's starting to get really annoying.

I was just talking to my sister this morning, and we were discussing some spiritual things. I was just wondering if this happens to other people? I will give an example from my own life.
I was driving in my car, listening to a really good Christian song which I love. I was praising God with all of my heart. All of a sudden, I felt myself outside myself, and I was actually "soaring" above in the air, and I felt so light as a feather, and so joyful, I don't have human words to describe it. Has anyone else ever felt this way? This isn't the only time I've experienced this. It has happened several times to me. I could actually feel myself flying through the air.

I can see how wind changes and effects things. I can see how wind moves things even though I cant see it. If I close myself away from the wind, I no longer feel it but I know it is still there. Why is experiencing God and the way he changes, effects, moves and heals, even though you can not see him, not enough for some people to believe that he exists?
