I was just talking to my sister this morning, and we were discussing some spiritual things. I was just wondering if this happens to other people? I will give an example from my own life.
I was driving in my car, listening to a really good Christian song which I love. I was praising God with all of my heart. All of a sudden, I felt myself outside myself, and I was actually "soaring" above in the air, and I felt so light as a feather, and so joyful, I don't have human words to describe it. Has anyone else ever felt this way? This isn't the only time I've experienced this. It has happened several times to me. I could actually feel myself flying through the air.

I have no doubt this is a spiritual experience from God. Yes, I was elated, and I wished it didn't end. This happens when I am praising God in my heart, or when I am thinking about Him a lot. I can't do it on command or anything. It just happens. 2 of my sisters have similar experiences, as does my Mom, but in different ways. Why do you think we all do this??? I am not saying this to boast. I am just totally curious if there are others who do this, and what they think about it. Surely, we are not the only ones.

Yes, I have experienced that. I would recommend that you read "Worship Warrior" by Chuck Pierce.... AWESOME book!!!

Edited to add in response to your additional comments: In the Bible, Ezekiel writes of his experience of being raised up by the Spirit in various locations providing us with a solid Biblical perspective of such an occurrence.

Ezekiel 11:1, "Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the houses of the Lord that face east."

Ezekiel 11:24-25, "Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the exiles in Babylonia in the vision given by the Spirit of God. Then the vision I had seen went up from me, and I told the exiles everything the Lord had shown me."

Ezekiel links being lifted in the Spirit with receiving a fresh revelation of the glory of God.

Ezekiel 11:22-23, "Then the cherubim, with the wheels beside them, spread their wings, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them. The glory of the Lord went up from within the city and stopped above the mountain east of it."

Such experiences are available to every believer who seeks God with their whole heart. God draws near to those who draw near to Him.

I've never felt like I was soaring in the air, but singing my favorite song over and over while worshiping the Lord, a 3 hour trip felt like 30 minutes. I arrived fresh and relaxed, and many times before I got out barely able to walk from sitting so long.

I've felt like a wind surrounded me with love and warm arms once before.

I was awakened and told to "Get up and see the wonders of God." I got up and went outside and saw the brightest ball of light and then it went away.

It is my gathered belief that beautiful things can make one feel good just through interaction. That may be something one sees or feels to be "spiritual soaring." Of course, the act of feeling good always transpires differently in individuals. Having as much control over our brains as we do, albeit arbitrary, we control how we feel. There is much argument between scientist and doctors on where satisfaction comes from, so we cant really know why we feel good in those moments that are explained as an "Epiphany." Try this; wherever and whenever you get a chance, start telling yourself how great something is(whatever it is you believe to be great). Go over every aspect of this thing you love and admire it as much as you can. With the right amount of feeling, you can create feelings that you may describe as "amazing." For this creation of good feelings, the only explanation I'm satisfied with is that we have been created by an all loving being that has put us into It's reality with the purpose of love and creating love. This is only rational because science and reality have showed that all creatures seek relief of suffering. Therefor, the purpose of our existence is to feel good. That's what I believe.

Many people have had this experience. It is like a "soaring of the heart"...total elation. This also occurs when one experiences near-death or death. For those enraptured, it is real. For those who never have the experience, it is impossible to believe. Possibly they disbelieve because they can't imagine why someone besides themselves would be blessed with such a gift.

yes i've felt a similar way when praising my God. i usually feel that way when im walking close to Him, almost as if i have a spiritual body guard or something. faith can provoke some bold choices. it even gives you the power to laugh in the face of death.

My spirit has soared at the sight of natures beauty-over the words of a hymn, at the hug from a loved one...it can occur at any time.

Yours could be mild forms of mystical experience. It could be a gift, an asset in connecting with God in the prayer of meditation or direct worship. Develop it. Perhaps, in time, you can pray to intercede for others or heal the sick.

I do believe in out of body experiences, yes.

I have left my body in dreams only.

I imagine what you experienced was incredible.

Sure. I felt it when I was married, when my children were born, when my son was married.

It's called elation. It's an emotional experience.

I don't attribute it to God. I attribute it to those I love and care about, and the feelings I associate with being around them in harmony.
