Wouldn't it be fun for those interested here to get together for a Meet & Greet Cruise? 'Groups' get discounts and what with two to a cabin it would not be expensive and all meals are included....we could have a great time!!

Lizzy -I have never had a problem on any cruise...and most that I have read of such as you describe were primarily on one carrier....which I won't trash here..

Cruises leave from all over the US...but some ports are more centrally located between the West and East coasts and could accomodate people on both coasts

I take at least 2 a year, sometimes 3. I take my grandson with me once a year.
Over 100 under my belt....all over the world, most rivers and canals.
To be fair about it, I retired from 32 years in the travel industry and had a lot of opportunity to cruise....and I did.
That's what I spend my money on today. That's why I have a little part time job 25 hours a week...to help with expenses. My kids give me gift certificates from my favorite cruise line every year for Christmas and birthday.
My belief is that a bad day at sea is better than the best day on land.
Let's gooooooo!!!!

If it's only going to be couples (and Wally with his roommate) I'd say no. Went on a cruise once-the Mexican Riviera-Would have been fantastic if my husband hadn't been there. He ruined the whole thing!!!! I left from CA (so no airfare) it was less than $1000 for 7 days. When you consider that includes all meals and entertainment...Have several cruises planned as soon as I graduate in a year. This time they will be fun! Lizzy-If you were with a group I would imagine you would be much safer. I would never go on shore trips alone.

I, too, have cruised the Rhine River in Germany. Fun, isn't it Diamond, with all those Castles. I loved it.
I think it's a good idea. And they're fun. I'm waiting to go to Alaska. That's the one I really want to do. Knowing my luck, the only one I could get booked on would be in the middle of winter on an ice breaker. Life is fun!

Lizzy can bunk with Wally. He's a nice guy. I think it would be fun, but not everyone has enough bucks to consider it. Are talking about a cruise to Ensenada, Mexico, from Long Beach? That's a possibility. Been there, done that. It's too much fun!

I've taken cruises to Alaska, the Eastern Carribean and the Western Carribean and loved it. However after seeing WF's program on cruises last weekend , as a single woman I'll probably never go on one again. More sexual assaults against women than on land. FBI won't handle it , your left in the hands of the police at the next port. No thank you.

I'm so in.
I went on a cruise 15 years ago but now that I'm single it will be more fun:)
I would love meeting all of you in person, some of you I feel are like old friends already.
If anyone can get this going e-mail me.
I think there are some SC'rs meeting in DC soon.

Let's see, I took my first cruise in 1966 from Norfolk, Va to Panama, Hawaii the Philippines, and South Viet Nam (and one cruise to Thailand before flying home). Then, I took a cruise from Sardinia to Tunis, France (twice) Spain (twice). Then a cruise to several Middle East countries, Italy, Kenya, Djibouti and Egypt. Then a cruise from Norfolk, Va to Spain, Egypt, Greece and Diego Garcia (atoll in the South Indian Ocean...aka BIOT) and a summer cruise to Nova Scotia. Then a final summer cruise to the Mediterranean with stops in Italy, Israel and France and Spain. AND I got paid for doing all that!

I never have been on a cruise because I'm afraid my claustrophobia would kick in being in one of the cabins w/o a window or some way to get air at night. I don't know if they even allow you to open a window. I think I would have to take my meds with me!

I've never been one a cruise, but my sister has told me about cruises she has been on and she really enjoyed them. My daughter has mentioned cruises or us flying somewhere but with my allergies I can't do either now. I have to be very careful where I go in order to avoid migraines. You all could take plenty of pics to show and tell me all about it when you get back though.

Only cruise I ever took was when I was a senior in high school. We went around the great lakes.
