I agree with Christ's words, such as the Parable of the Sower. There are unrighteous people who try to claim that St. Paul says that salvation cannot be lost, but they misinterpret (either intentionally or through ignorance) St. Paul's words. St. Paul's words mean that nobody ELSE can take salvation from you. That is, you cannot lose salvation if someone serves you a meal that was secretly prepared from human flesh or waves naughty pictures in front of your face without your permission, or does anything else that might make you technically break the letter of some "rule" or another. However, you can still personally cast salvation away.
That is, salvation cannot be stolen, but it can be squandered. Fortunately, God is forgiving, and the process of salvation can be resumed.
One difference between the "salvation forever" crowd and others is that, among the "salvation forever" groups, salvation is some kind of occultic state. You magically are turned into "saved person". Among the rest of us, salvation is a process, one that must constantly be worked out and worked through.
If salvation could not be lost, then St. Paul would have had no need to exhort the faithful to hold fast. The saved would hold fast automatically. The unsaved would never even start down the path of salvation.
For the "saved forever" groups, salvation is a destination, and one they pridefully congratulate themselves on having already attained. For the rest of us, salvation is a journey.

Hello,
Yes. Believing that you can get to heaven without doing works and following Jesus' teachings contradicts what Jesus taught. This debate has been going on 500 years but the majority of Christians believe you must follow Christ's teachings and live a good life. Only accepting Christ or believing in him is not good enough because as James said even the Devil and his legions do that. You are not therefore given a license to sin with immunity and impunity like those Mafiosos in movies who go church, communion, step outside for a smoke, arrange a quicky with the secretary and ordered a drug shipment and contract killing.
According to the vast majority of Christian ministers I spoke with, they say eternal security is a damnable doctrine of teaching and those leaders who teach it will be the ones in big trouble; far more than the RC's who these people condemn.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly

I donot beleive salvation is lost, But If you feel it has been, then it is time for REDEDICATION with Jesus. That means, bringing your heart back to him. Jesus never leaves us nor frosakes us. He is our Rock in times of need. He loves us no matter what = Unconditionally. He knows we are only Human and Humans forget, so He reminds us. He never lets us go, though we MAY sometimes TRY to let him go, He doesnt EVER let go of us! So, This is what I am saying, We don't ever loose it, God Keeps letting us back in though and it is like when your children come back home. Love NEVER stops when it is true love. Also why People need to read EVERY word of the Bible and read for understanading. Because ALL verses lead into the other one's. Start with GEnesis and go on through Revelations. The Devil TRIES to deceive us, watch out for those who do this. Salvation CANNOT be lost! NO! But sort of like a Preist,,, we come back once we fallter and ask Jesuss for forgiveness again, this is why when I say my prayers I ask forgivness of any sins I may have done without or with prior knowledge. I love this question and I hope someone reading it and the answers gets to know Jesus personnally. GBU....

I don't think that you can lose it once you really have it. I am not convinced that all who say the prayer really mean it 100% in their hearts, so it may appear that many people "lose" their salvation. I know that I said that prayer many times growing up, asking Jesus into my heart. But I don't believe I really got saved til I was 25 and gained a true deep understanding of what was required of me when I accepted the gift of salvation.
Many people "get saved" and think they're free and clear to live as they please now. I believe in a Just God, a God who searches the hearts of men and knows what is really inside. I don't believe we can ever fool Him and get a "Get out of jail free card"

I'm not sure...the verse you mentioned certainly seems to suggest that, but I'm in no position to judge whether a person has truly accepted Christ (and thus become "sealed") or whether they just said the words without truly accepting them! Personally, I don't think God will drag someone to heaven kicking and screaming if that person makes it clear to him that they don't want to go!
...and what about Matthew 7:2 ("not all who cry out to me Lord, Lord will be saved"). The way I see it, accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior isn't a point-in-time event...it is a constant struggle to surrender your own selfish desires to his will every moment of every day. As such, it is possible to lose your salvation if you stop surrendering to him!

Of course you can, by simply turning your back on Him. Just because you accept Him as your Savior doesn't mean you've surrendered your freedom of choice in this. Our decisions don't have any effect on Christ's power one way or the other--they only affect our own salvation, and the salvation of those whom we would mislead. God's plan is indeed perfect--it's human beings who've ruined it from the very beginning.

I do believe that it is possible to lose our salvation. Not because we have more power than Christ but rather because we choose to go back out into the world. Once you have known God and experienced His Mercy and Salvation...then fall away from the Lord by following the world...it is not He who left you but you who chose to leave Him. If you were to die in your sins without repentance...in order for God to be completely just as He is it would be that you would have to be judged as the world is judged.

yes life is like school. Theres several parts to it first you have to accept the resopsiblity of going to school and show up. (believing that God is your saviour) Then theres homework that you have to do. (praying, attending chruch, communicating with God) Then there's tests to make you faith grow stronger. (making the right decision like not to cheat on your spouse) Alone the way you'll make mistakes but in the end if you work hard and do what you can you'll get a passing grade (please god and show that hes your saviour)
I don't think it makes you more powerful. I think of salvation as a relationship with God. As in any relationship there are good times and bad ones. Staying commeted to God is how you reach salavaiton. If i loose my salvation it would make God more powerful cause he took it away from me.

I have been born again spiritually and I can no more be unborn spiritually than I can be unbornn physically. The Holy Spirit lives in me and He is not going to leave me. God is my heavenly Father and He is not a dead beat dad who abandons His children. I have been adopted into the family of God and it was a legal transaction just like I was adopted by my earthly parents. Jesus said no one can snatch me out of the Father's hands and no one can snatch me out of Jesus Hands. God has an eternal grip on me and He is my keeper and He will not let me go. I may stray off course and get out of fellowship with Him but my relationship will and can never be lost. My salvation is for eternity and I have a responsiblity to live a godly life but I do not have the power to keep my self from falling or saved and thank God it does not depend on my power. God the Father disciplines and chastises those He love and sometimes He will even remove them from this world but He does not take them out of Christ nor take Christ out of them. Sealed by the Spirit forever. I may lose all my rewards but I am going to be saved from the wrath of God to come. I don't see how anyone who claims to be a Christian live everyday of your life thinking that you could lose your salvation at any moment. There is no inner peace or real joy in that. That is exactly what the devil wants every child of God to believe. That is torment and fear brings torment and why would I share the Gospel with an unbeliever if they could not be sure they could trust God to keep them. Yes, we are to work out our salvation but not work for our salvation like the counterfeits are trying to do. We are to work out what God works in us. I have the assurance and I have entrusted my life to the Lord. I could not live everyday wondering if I was not going to make it because I messed up or didn't do enough. That sounds just like the counterfeit Christians. Faith is the assurance of hope and that means being sure of what I expect, not a hope so or maybe so. I expect God to keep His word. He is faithful and He is Soverign. Jesus Christ layed down His life for His sheep, and every person that is truly born again was already chosen by God before the foundation of the world and sheep do not become goats. I have been chosen, called, santified, glorified and I am already seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus and no one is going to remove me from my place. Satan is a liar and Jesus is the truth. I trust Jesus. I am saved for ever! Amen!

Some people promote a very attractive idea: All true Christians, regardless of how they live, have an absolute assurance of salvation, once they accept Jesus into their hearts as "their personal Lord and Savior." The problem is that this belief is contrary to the Bible & constant Christian teaching.
Recall this Scripture: "If we have died with him [in baptism; see Rom. 6:3-4] we shall also live with him; if we persevere we shall also reign with him" (2 Tim. 2:11-12). So, ff we do NOT persevere, we shall NOT reign with him. In other words, Christians can forfeit heaven. Jesus tells us, "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31-46). Ergo, if you do not endure to the end, well........
The Bible makes it clear that Christians have a moral assurance of salvation (God will be true to his word and will grant salvation to those who have faith in Christ and are obedient to him [1 John 3:19-24]), but the Bible does NOT teach that Christians have a guarantee of heaven. There can be no absolute assurance of salvation. The Bible says, "See, then, the kindness and severity of God: severity toward those who fell, but God's kindness to you, provided you remain in his kindness, otherwise you too will be cut off" (Rom. 11:22-23; Matt. 18:21-35, 1 Cor. 15:1-2, 2 Pet. 2:20-21).
Note that this includes an important condition: "provided you remain in his kindness." It is saying that Christians can lose their salvation by throwing it away. He warns, "Whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall" (1 Cor. 10:11-12). , Paul admitted that even he could fall away: "I pummel my body and subdue it, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified" (1 Cor. 9:27). In saying this he points out that even he cannot be infallibly sure of his own present state or of his future salvation.
As a Catholic, when someone asks me if I have been "saved," I answer: "I am redeemed by the blood of Christ, I trust in him alone for my salvation, and, as the Bible teaches, I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), knowing that it is God's gift of grace that is working in me."
