now there is 300 million of us in america. 13 percent black (if we are supposed to believe the stats) 15 percent hispanic and say about 60 percent white.
13 percent of 300,000,000 is 39 million black folk. now i am going to assume that half of these are men =19 million black men. i am going to assume that about 6 million are below 10yrs of age. leaving us with 13 millon black men. according to the stats a third will be or are incarcerated = 4.3 million incarcerated now or in the past black men.
WHITE FOLK=60 PERCENT of 300,000,000= 180 million white folk. half are women=90 million white men. give the under 10 about 5 million (low birth rate in caucasians)=85 million white men. according to the stats about 17 percent are incarcerated=17 percent of 85million= 15 million incarcerated white men. SO WE HAVE 15 MILLION INCARCERATED WHITE MEN AS OPPOSED TO 4.3 MILLION BLACK

MEN. so why is the media always putting a brown face on incarceration ?? when there are 15 million white men (this is the population of like 4 states combined) who are or have being incarcerated ?

Lies, damned lies and statistics. Numbers can be manipulated to fit any predetermined opinion. This will be done whenever it is in the best interest of the person presenting the information.

the statistics that are quoted deal with percentages. there may be more whites in prison than blacks, for example, but that's what you would expect given that blacks make up a small fraction of the general population. However, if you take the number of blacks in prison and divide it by the size of the total black population, you get a much higher ratio compared to what you get when you make the corresponding calculation with whites.
