This may seem odd, but, it's only because I study geography alone that I feel the need to ask this. I have no geography friends :( and I try to talk to my friends about geography but they get bored and start to whine *shakes fist* haha
Basically, I just want to hear why you love geography, I always find myself sitting there thinking about how great it is in my lessons, and how I'd love to share with others those moments when it all just clicks and the world makes sense, or when you see problems and really want to change them.
So, my question is why go you like geography? (if you do)
It's purely for my personal interest.
Haha and I wonder why my friends roll their eyes at me...
Actually, any subject really is interesting to discover why people enjoy it. So I am going to throw another question out there (oh yes) why do you like your favorite subject?

His parents are both Jehovah’s Witnesses so he was raised as one. He has strayed away several times but always maintained the belief that you shouldn’t celebrate holidays, take blood transfusions, etc. He’s been attending the Bible studies, meetings and going to the Kingdom Hall off and on since we have been married, but all of the sudden he is really getting involved with the religion. I have never felt that he has tried to convert me until recently. For the past couple of months he has been asking me to join him at their events and I have politely declined. I went to a dinner a month or so ago because I knew he really wanted to go, but what bothers me is that if I were to ask him to come to my church (non-denominational) he wouldn’t come. He doesn’t attend any of the holiday dinners with my family which I have learned to accept. There is a very nice Elder who comes to meet with him once a week. He too has offered for me to join in on the meetings, but I declined.

If anyone tried to prevent you from going to the church of your choice would the ACLU stand up for your rights?

I say it does. For example:

Revelations 19:8
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

This verse talks about the righteousness of saints which in most christian doctrines state it is not due to acts. Well...

Hebrews 9:10
Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

The key word in both passages is this:

Dikaioma

It is the same word in both passages for righteousness and ordinances. What determines how it is translated? In this case, theology.

In modern translations they translate it properly and the same in both cases. That is, righteous acts.

Rev. 19:8
It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

See how a slight change in the translation can change the meaning of a thing?

I just asked if Christians believed in a "torturing" God or an "annihilating" God. One response I got was:

"God doesn't do either. We make that choice. Let's say you are lost in the desert and you come to a sign that say's water this way and another that leads to nowhere. Say you take the nowhere path and at the end you are parched and dying of thirst. You have huge blisters on your feet. Are you going to blame the people who would have given you water should you have taken the other path? Or was it your choice to take the other that led to nowhere. God made hell for satan and his followers. Then He gave us free will to choose. So you can jump in the pool of life or you can jump in the fire. It's up to you."

My question is: we all know who created Hell; we all know who judges us; why does it have to be eternal torment at the end of the other path? Why is God not merciful for those he loves; even those that deny him?

I want to say this on my blog:

"He's one of those pretty boys whom you just let him talk and talk but you're not really listening while you observe his sexy face without him knowing it."

Is the above sentence correct? The wordings sound weak I think. Please help.

I dont think I am spelling his name right. But Nostrodamos was brought up in my Theology class. I did some looking around online and it says that he predicted the 9/11 attacks and he also predicts that the world will come to an end in the year 2012. I am not one to loose sleep for that fact although it is a chilling thought, but I believe that if the world ends it ends and its going to come and nobody is going to expect it. What do u think about nostrodamos?

What if everything you were taught in school was an intentional lie..What if ALL religions were just stories told to control the people..What if the only way humanity can survive would be to remove all governments from power..and start being a truly loving and caring for each other society..what if the only law in all the world was just LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF? I think humanity would rather die..What do all of you think?

2) Do you also think that God makes things stick together - giving the impression of gravity?
3) Do you think gravity was intelligently designed?
4) Are you totally insane?

people question jeovahs witnesses point of view on blood transfustions... but is it really just jehovahs wittnesses point of view?? or is it the bibles point of view??

Acts 15:28, 29.
.
28 For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!”

what does that scripture say from you bible?
does it have the same idea? you might find this scripture suprising and maybe not look down on witnesses so much after reading this. remember there is plenty of ways to get around blood transfusions today. maybe you should look into the dangers of blood stransfusions and the different ways that medical technology has found ways to get around this.

...If being gay/lesbian is really a "sin" as some people claim (not all, I realize that), then why does God make some people have a biological disposition to be gay/lesbian?

Isn't that creating a person just to damn them to eternal suffering...?
