people question jeovahs witnesses point of view on blood transfustions... but is it really just jehovahs wittnesses point of view?? or is it the bibles point of view??
Acts 15:28, 29.
.
28 For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!”
what does that scripture say from you bible?
does it have the same idea? you might find this scripture suprising and maybe not look down on witnesses so much after reading this. remember there is plenty of ways to get around blood transfusions today. maybe you should look into the dangers of blood stransfusions and the different ways that medical technology has found ways to get around this.

someone below brought out this point.. that i use very often when i talk about blood as well but i'm going to state it again so you understand...
if the doctor told you to 'abstain' from alcohol... obviously he means not to drink it right?? but would you inject it into your viens? probably not... cuz that wouldn't be right either. if th bible says to abstain from it.. than you stay away from it.

Very good points!!!
Jehovah considers blood as something sacred... He also tells us to abstain from it......
If you were to go to a doctors office and they said... No more alcohol ....Would you think that means just drinking it... Would you think it meant it was OK to take a needle and pump it in your body since your doctor just told you no more "alcohol"? No, that would be silly!
The same is with the scripture in the Bible... Jehovah says to ABSTAIN from blood...... This would encompass EVERY aspect of it, not just a form of it.
Anyone who tries to find a way around that scripture is looking as the scriptures put it "lovers of themselves" because they are not seeking to please God. At that point they are being selfish because Jehovah is very clear on the matter. We do have many different other things we can take in place of blood, but a straight blood transfusion is NEVER up for question!

Jehovah's Witnesses refuse blood transfusions for the simple reason that God forbids such (mis)use of blood.
Medical evidence of the side effects only serves to prove that Jehovah knows best.
Isaiah 48:17,18- This is what Jehovah has said, your Repurchaser, the Holy One of Israel: “I, Jehovah, am your God, the One TEACHING YOU TO BENEFIT YOURSELF, the One causing you to tread in the way in which you should walk. O if only you would actually pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Statistically, blood transfusions are considered safe.
From the KJV:
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
At the time that Paul wrote this, there were no blood transfusions. There were, however a lot of pagans and other sects who offered food to idols, st-tues and false gods. Also a lot of these rites had to do with fornication. He was exhorting them to not participate in the rituals of worshipping false gods.
When we read scripture, it is important to realize context and audience. Things which applied to the Corinthians do not necesarily apply to us today because we do not have the same circumstances. You will also notice that things which Paul wrote to the Colossians and things which he wrote to the Thessalonians were different. They were two different people with different problems and challenges, but wished to be unified in worshipping God. God's law does not change, but mankind does.

I think blood transfusions should be avoided if possible, for health reasons, because of side effects. (Unless its your own blood, which would eliminate the side effects.) But if you're about to bleed to death, the side effects are worth the risk.
I notice that JW's here often emphasize the medical reasons for not having a blood transfusion, apparently because the medical reasons are so much more valid than the religious reasons.

Thank you!!!.about time someone said it...
it is the bibles point of view...
were at a time where medicine has come a long way that it makes blood tranfussions seem, so primitive.....there are other ways to do it people...and it's a safer procedure...better than getting blood from a bank where it's been stored for god knows how long..and might be swimming with disease...

They arent that safe. They dont always catch if somebody has AIDS or some other disease. I was watching the news and it said that three people got organ transplants from one person and the results from testing said the person didnt have AIDS but then the three other people contracted it.

and there are plenty of times when blood is the only way to save a life.....if a person doesn't want blood, fine, that's their decision......and yes there are alternatives in some situations, but when you have a person hit the ER whose had a GI bleed for several days, are vomiting massive amounts of blood, and hemoglobin and hematocrit are dangerously low, I'll give the blood every time.....
and when you are in the field, you see.....I have administered countless units of blood/blood products over many years, and have yet to see any major consequences or death.....

The Bible is a very complicated book and many times when people read and study the Bible, things are taken out of context, like where it says something about the drinking of blood.
