We are created in the image and likeness of God. People are not born "gay". They are not created to be that way. We were created to serve God and to keep His commandments (Ecc.12:13).
This has been an ongoing discussion for a very long time. A true believer in Christ would know that it is very displeasing to God to engage in same sex relationships or to even condone them. But these are simply signs that the end of days are rapidly approaching.
Sodom and Gamorrah thought that living this way was not going to be a problem until God said enough and destroyed those cities and all who were in them.
That being said, you decide if you want to live that way or not. It is entirely up to you.

God does not create people to be gay/lesbian nor does He give them that biological disposition. God created every person to be perfect and, through a history of sin, we have marred that perfection. We all have our cross to bear, homosexuality is just one of many. You may not choose to be gay (which I do believe it is a choice, email me if you want to know why), but you do choose to act on those desires. Either way, you choose your lifestyle. Homosexuality will not damn you to hell, not believing in Jesus Christ will.

Propensity for sexual feelings and desires toward someone of the same gender is *not* something created or given by God! The *so-called* "biological disposition" to be a homosexual has not yet been found, although activist "sads" (as I call them, because there's nothing "gay" about being a homosexual) have been desperately and frantically searching for a "gay gene" for decades! If, in fact, it *does* exist, it comes, not from God, but from the devil, like any other mutation or inclination to sin!
Anything like a propensity for the sin of murder, hatred, fornication, robbery, gossiping, gluttony, homosexual behavior, adultery, child molestation, rape, etc. comes not from the evil one, the former Archangel of Light, previously called Lucifer, now called Satan, or the devil. ". . . the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." I Peter 5:8 (NIV)
Murderers, haters, fornicators, robbers, gossipers, gluttons, homosexuals, Lesbians, adulterers, child molesters, rapists do not *have* to act out - to act on their sinful propensities or desires!

If you want to count what is and isn't a sin, I don't have that kind of time. Check with your God-given conscience, which by the way, no other being in creation has, but I digress.
The lifestyle of which you speak is judgment from God. It is evidence of when He has given people over to their reprobate mind, and allowed that they love themselves sooooo much, that they seek someone exactly like them.
Sodom and Gomorrah was first judged by God, evidenced by their being given over to sodomy and homosexuality. Then later it was punished for their true sin, which was they were without charity or the love of God. They committed adultery, and walked in lies: they strengthened also the hands of evildoers, that none did return from his wickedness (Jer 23:14)
So you see it is a sin, but also judgment, and evidence that punishment and destruction will be the next step. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

I'm an Atheist. I don't believe in God, and I don't believe in sin. But if God really were real (I don't know if he is, or not, I just believe that he isn't, because I'm the sort of person that needs proof), I would think that He wouldn't care if anyone is homosexual or not, because they aren't harming anyone. It doesn't really matter what is written in the Bible; laws and rules change with time (except the laws of physics, I suppose).

Some think that being gay is hereditary. Blaming grandma and grandpa just doesn't cut it. You're only gay if you act on your desires. I have an urge to do many things that are against Torah (Yahweh's Way to Live Book) but I sacrifice my heart's desire to follow a known way to live a better life.
Anyway, wouldn't nature 'naturally select' the gay gene for destruction because gay's cannot produce offspring?

Yes -if thats the way you "want" to look at it.
But if you want to be realistic, you must think of original sin. Without it there would be no gay/lesbian or hermaphrodite either. The hermaphrodite has a case to argue-the gay/lesbian does not.

Sex is only a sin, if it hurts people, immediately or afterwards. Bad relationships are morally negative. Disease and unwanted children are not morally positive results. If sex, keeps you from an overall positive contribution, to the betterment of the world, it is not good. As to sexual preference, I don't believe that is an important factor, since all people who have sex and relationships, can mess up, and do that which is morally, not very good. God, speaks through reality and consequences. We have a lot of serious problems in this world that need to be addressed, God will guide and inspire people, who strive to make this world better. God values people who are positive contributers overall, to this world, no matter what they believe.

God doesn't make them that way. I believe it is a problem of spiritual oppression from birth. This can make it seem as if they are "born gay" but they aren't - they feel that pressure but they don't know it is spiritual in nature. That is why when gay people get saved - and I mean, truly saved! - they turn straight. God delivers them from that spiritual blight.
Other people God gives over to homosexuality. He doesn't make them gay, but He takes His hand off their life and lets them follow their rebellion to its natural conclusion, which in some cases is gross sexual immorality and homosexuality.
It is really a sin to be gay. The Bible is pretty clear on that one. And the Bible is also clear that God doesn't make people sin.

In the beginning God made them male and female, this is the disposition he made for us. Being gay IS A CHOICE, it's a lifestyle you choose to become involved in. If God made some people with gay tendencies why in the Old and New Testament does it say it is an abomination for a man to lie with another man as he would with a woman and vice versa. Homosexuality is a spirit-plain truth.
