Righteousness comes from the root word meaning to judge fairly. A person who is righteous will judge correctly in every situation.

In Judaism, a righteous person has no desire at all to sin in the same way I have no desire to eat liver. It's really something that was given to them instead of something they become.

Holiness means set apart. For instance, you may have a bedroom that is set apart for guests. That would be called "holy." The word in Hebrew is Kadosh. It has no implication of being good. It has to be taken in context with the words around it.

As far as I know Jews have no word for justification.

Righteousness simply means to live God's way of life. To obey his Commandments.

there is a great resource, shows the original greek and hebrew meanings.

blueletterbible.org
and when you type in the search box any scripture
or words, it will let you look at 6 different versions,
and has buttons for commentaries or dictionary...

they say Webster did a great job with the words,
but the newest dictionaries may slur or blur the meanings.
go back in time to 1923 editions of Webster...or blueletterbible. Hug.

Righteousness means being in right standing with God.

My advice to you and your daughter is to read James 1:5. That verse has the answer to your questions.
Also, use an exhaustitive concordance. That will give Greek and Hebrew meanings and provide scripture references.

Righteousness is to walk in the way of Right. A Right that is known, not a judgment of right or wrong. As we surrender to our Spiritual nature, we become less dependent on "thinking" what is right and begin to "Know" what is Right, in any given moment. Human mind can justify anything so this one is tricky. Love is always justified in sharing Itself. And Holiness, to me, means to be "whole", to walk with God in His Wholeness. "Whole-I-Ness", not within conflict within or without yourself. Tell your daughter that she "knows" the meanings and if she is Still all can Be Known. Peace

"You word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light to my path". Psalm 119:105

You will find the phase "generation to generation". If your teen is having problems, sit down and go over the material with her. For my children, I gave them "The Adventure Bible" but without my help, it is only an old book of stories.

Answer: Parents have a responsible to teach their children. If you want your child to understand, you need your generation to teach. This means you, your spouse, your Pastor/priest. God gave you resources, you need to use them. If your daughter is having problems, are they the same misunderstandings that you have?

righteousness means choosing good actions and avoiding bad actions and bad thoughts even when others are doing them,
Justification is what the grace of God is for, as long as we are obedient to the promises we make to Him.

Holiness goes along those lines, don't lie, don't cheat, don't steal, don't cuss, don't be mean to your siblings or your peers
do things for others with out telling anyone you did it.
