Alright, simply put, I would very much like to learn Japanese, Kanji, Katakana, and Hiragana. I had already heard of Rosetta Stone before and thought I would check it out. Apparently it says you can learn the spoken language, and all three written languages. However, I've been browsing around here in Yahoo Answers for other people who have asked the same question and have read mixed responses. Basically, I'm a very visual person, I've got a freaking photographic memory, and I grasp language well. So, would I be able to learn, and at least become fluent at an intermediate level, with Rosetta Stone?

Is this a legitimate charity to donate to? I am thinking of doing this instead of buying Christmas gifts for family members this year, but want to ensure the money is going where it is needed.

I'm currently learning Spanish. I was reading something, and the word "calabaza en tacha" came up. I know that "calabaza en" means "pumpkin in", but what is tacha? I looked it up (as well as some similar words) in a dictionary and it can mean all sorts of things...eraser, tin, a challenge, a mistake,a condemnation....etc.

If you want the full context, here is a link to the reading I found the word in:

http://www.colby.edu/~bknelson/SLC/ofrendas/oaxaca_new.php

It's the fourth sentence from the bottom.

Thank you!

If I pushed someone over in the street, should i be punished for the fact that i pushed them over, what about if I intended to push them over because a sharp flying object was heading their way?

What about if I a christian told me about Jesus and I happened not to believe in it, in my world, I intended to reject a made-up story... does god understand the concious decision i made? I wasn't aware to the fact that Jesus exists (if he does). Should i be punished for happeing to be mistaken, or should i not be because I intended to reject a story which i was sure was made-up and fiction? I know no christians will get me.

Since religion provides no basis for morality, religious folks like to bandy this 'moral relativist' term about in relation to atheists as a kind of defence mechanism to avoid acknowledging the moral bankruptcy of their own beliefs... but can a 'moral relativist' ever really exist?

To be a moral relativist means that you think something might be morally wrong in your opinion but morally right for someone else, if they think it is. So, for example, you might think it morally abhorrent for someone to rape your 10-year-old child but if another person thinks it's morally right then you would say to that person "Oh right, if you think it's OK then it must be morally right for you to do it, so go ahead".

No, in reality no-one ever actually thinks like that, so 'moral relativism' doesn't exist and never has done.

Matthew 5: 29-30 states "If your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away! For it is better to lose your eye then to throw your whole body into hell. And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away! For it is better to lose your hand then to throw your whole body into hell"

And Matthew 5: 28 tells us "I tell you, to even look at a woman with lust is in your heart is commit adultry in your heart"

So from this can we deduce that all x-tians need to have lobotomies because to even think of a sin is to commit the sin and the bible tells us that we should remove the source of the sin because that is better than going to hell!!

When you sit down at your Thanksgiving dinner this year surrounded by your family what will you have to be thankful for. If you are thankful to whom will you give thanks, be it to your choice of faith, or yourself, your wife or husband? I am just curious how many will be partaking in this tradition and how your family views this very popular day.

I shall be enjoying my day off at my in-laws with my husband, children and my parents. A huge Christian family, We will partake in prayers of thanksgiving, way too much deep fried turkey, and hopefully watch the Cowboys stomp the Jets.

Okay I should of aroused some interest with atleast that last prompt.

Have a wonderful holiday no matter how you choose to celebrate it. Even if it is just another day.

Proverbs 17:15 says

He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

Is it not what we say that God justifies us, and condemmed an innocent man Jesus. How can that be? How can we be justified?

Ok, So we were trying to figure out what to get my MIL for Christmas, and my hubby said that we needed to get her a 30pk of Coor's Light. Seriously, I told him that there was no way we could do this & that his mom would be insalted. Problem is, everything we give her for the home, she complains about because she says it for her house, not for HER. Any clothes we buy her she throws out or gives away. I've gotten her bath/spa set...collecting dust after years..Jewelry...yeah right, its never good enough for her. A gift card is out of the question because we are only spending $25 on each family member (35 in all, brothers/sisters/neices&nephews/parents)
She LOVES to party & drink..Not an occassion that goes by where she is not plastered. Would this be okay to give her, or would it be offensive. I'm out of ideas on what to get her. Suggestions & opinions please.

I ask this because Christians say that when the body dies the soul travels to Heaven or to Hell and so I wonder how the soul reaches those two destinations.
Please give me your opinion but do not quote the Bible again because it is becoming quiet boring. Just think for yourself.

It just seems to me that the best Christians are educated and intelligent but they are the ones that mostly remain silent and don’t have opinions whilst the noisiest ones are the most unintelligent and uneducated. I mean, creationists, Fred Phelps, Pat Robertson…need I say more?
