The best books are the primary lore - Poetic Edda and Prose Edda in translation. Then the sagas. There's so much disagreement about the about modern works I'll pass on recommendations. Look through them and decide for yourself. Should someone be a member of a Germanic culture or Germanic family to be Asatru? All it takes is deciding to act loyal to the Aesir, Vanir and allied spirits to be Asatru but somehow folks not members of culture or family rarely decide to be Asatru. No idea how that works. I'm among those pleasantly surprised when exceptions occur.

Frigga is the wife of Odin, She is Mother to Vidar Hodur and Baldur and is one of the Aesir. Freya is the sister of Frey and daughter of Niord and is actually one of the Vanir.

Absolutely not! Frigga was Odin's wife. Freyja was Freyr's sister. Two different Norse goddesses.

Nope. Frigg is Odin's wife, and Freya is a fertility goddess. They're both really high in the pantheon, though.
