You do have a point. The only one who can answer to their beliefs is the person who holds that belief. I do not take at face value any list of what an atheist believes...nor do I think that all christians, ( or any other religious sect) fit into a stereotypical mold in their religion as well.
Case in point: I am a christian, but I am also pro choice, I believe that homosexuals have a right to their sexual orientation, and I do not think that men should domonate over women. Many christians do not feel this way but because of stereotypes we are viewed in a bad light. I do not judge someone because they are an atheist, because I really do not know what the individual atheist believes.
I agree 100%... they are likely to be two very different things! :)

Yes.
Can you agree that what a Christian thinks and what a yahoo answerer athiest say a Christian thinks are two very different things?
BTW I know very few mainline Ministers that waste their time on what Atheists think or spend their time trying to "convert" Atheists.. Just as I know very few true intelligent Atheist who waste their time on what a Minister thinks they think. Or who waste their time attempting to "convert" theists.

You want them to actually do some footwork on their own? Many of them haven't even read the Bible--they just take the pastor's word for it.

Who cares what pastors say?
I get all my ideas about reality out of cheap romance novels. They are much more truthful than pastors

Very much so. If you aren't in a group's shoes to know, it is rather ignorant to place yourself as the authority of telling people what to think about them.

Well, pastors are not mind readers, but there is a lot of material about what atheism is about.
