Proverbs 17:15 says

He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

Is it not what we say that God justifies us, and condemmed an innocent man Jesus. How can that be? How can we be justified?

There are some good answers to this question that has been presented. Even one or two that so far look like best answers, so far.

How about this clarification fo the question.

If God created a man or an angel that was innocent (as some claim) and placed that man or angel on the cross to die for our sins, then would that not make the Lord an abomination to himself?

If that is so, then who is the Jesus really?

The law and God demand justice without exception, otherwise, laws and God would cease to be. (in other words, what use is a law with no consequences for good or bad, it means nothing)

The demands of law is reward or punishment according to obedience or disobedience.

Since we all are disobedient to some degree or another, we are all worthy of punishment.

Christ said he would take the punishment for us, thus satisfying the demands of justice, as well as providing mercy. God can be both just and merciful.

If we believe, accept and repent, then the sin is forgiven and we are justified and receive mercy, otherwise, we take the punishment.

People that justify wickedness are wrong, just as people who condemn the just are wrong. That is all that scripture is trying to say. The Lord does not like it.

God did not condemn Jesus. Pilot condemned Jesus according to the will of the people. The people chose to free a thief over our Lord. It was not just, it was an unjust deed by a sinful people. God was so smitten He had to turn his back. If my son were hanging on a cross, I wouldn't be able to watch either. That is why Jesus said, "Why have you forsaken me?" to the Lord. But God had not forsaken him. Just like he will not forsake you even when you feel like you have been forsaken. This was something that had to be carried out. That's why we have salvation. No other man, but the son of God, would love us so much that he would hang on a cross. This further proves the love that God has for us. He ALLOWED, not condemned, His only begotten son to hang on the cross for our sins.

I hope this helps.

I'm try to understand your question but i think i can answer this.
by faith are you justified.
read all you can about martin Luther he is the one that brought the message of justification. what this scripture means is we as humans cannot justify a wicked act of someone else, and we should not condemn a just or righteous person because god hates both of these acts. and yes god justifies us but not by what we say but by what we do. and even though we condemned an innocent man Jesus he had to die anyways one way or another but he justified them by saying "forgive them father they know not what they do" and so we were justified just by in saying that.
justification just means " picking up the vessel"
it's as if you found a dirty cup in the mud "justification" is that you pick up the cup, but it is not clean or ready to be used that where you come to sanctification which means cleaned and set aside for service, and then you come to the baptism of the holy ghost which means the filling of the vessel. hope this helps you out

It clearly says that if you justify the wicked and you condem the just, you are an abomination in the eyes of God.

What part don't you understand?

The purpose of the Crucifixion was the justification of all God's elect. It was a necessary sacrifice because man had no acceptable sacrifice to offer. It means the removal of the sin debt, which allowed men to be acquitted.

No we say:

"God so loved the world that He GAVE His only Son that who so ever believes Him shall have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

Also, Jesus WILLINGLY laid down His life for us. We are justified through His SACRIFICE. Simple as that.

Ugh? We are all wicked and born into sin. Jesus death keeps us from dieing for the sin of Adam. But we can still die for our own sins.
Wether you are justified or not.

When we become a Christian and have the blood of Christ applied to our sins, God no longer sees us as sinners because we have been covered by the blood of Christ. We are then "declared" righteous by what Christ did not what we did.
