If I pushed someone over in the street, should i be punished for the fact that i pushed them over, what about if I intended to push them over because a sharp flying object was heading their way?

What about if I a christian told me about Jesus and I happened not to believe in it, in my world, I intended to reject a made-up story... does god understand the concious decision i made? I wasn't aware to the fact that Jesus exists (if he does). Should i be punished for happeing to be mistaken, or should i not be because I intended to reject a story which i was sure was made-up and fiction? I know no christians will get me.

God knows what your intentions are and will judge accordingly. Why do you think I will "get you"? I think this was a good question.

Dear Dec J,

God understands everything, and he knows the intentions within a man's heart. The book of Romans puts it quite plainly- it is man that suppresses the truth and not God who is insufficient in his revelation of Himself. Dec J you have the free will to accept or reject God but remember utlimately God is the judge- and God is a fair and just God- that's part of His character.

Your analogy is not a very good one- because in the first scenario you were doing a good thing by trying to protect someone from be sliced by a sharp flying object.

In the second analogy you are denying God which is never a good thing.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Mostly, yes. I have thought for a long time that there should never have been an offence of 'attempted murder'. If you intended it and failed then you should get exactly the same treatment as if you had succeeded.

How can you tell the intentions of another being? Unless you're a Buddha you're not going to pull that one off.
