Why do you have to blindly accept FIRST and then get indoctrinated to believe in the bible is the 100% inerrant word of God?

Why can't you not just read and study it with a rational mind and using your God given intellect and discernment see the evidence for yourself, then decide to join?

Why is some kind of emotionally charged experience and surrender needed?

I am asking because in response to a question I had about the inerrancy of the bible here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmsPJ3jZcEm.kDyrnZYT0Fvd7BR.;_ylv=3?qid=20071108083806AAnjB2t

a person called preacherswife responded:

"....you must first become a Child of God until this happens the Bible will always be a mystery to you but if you would only read Roman 10:9-13 and do what it says in these verses then you will be surprised at how much you can understand and realize that the Bible (KJV) is Truly the Word of God."

But why would I just "accept" something without examining it first?

The Bible doesn't mention events occuring outsside a small region of the world we call the middle east or the holy land. Because the Bible makes no mention of God helping, guiding or working with people in any other part of the world do you think God simply ignored their suffering and their prayers?

I've heard the words "subjective" and "objective" flung around a lot lately, but people don't really know what they mean. Do you?

A "subjective" truth is based on the subject involved.
Example: "The Beatles are great" is a subjective truth to me because I like them. But, you may not, and that is true too.

An "objective" truth is based on the object involved.
Example: "A 'foot' is 12 inches long" is an objective truth. Whether you believe it or not does not matter, because it is true.

This is an important oncept to grasp. Subjectivism has infected the minds of many people these days.

God is an objective truth. Whether or not you believe in God does not alter the fact that God exists.

I've read poll after poll showing that a majority of American voters would not vote for an atheist and I'd like to know why. Being an atheist does not mean that you're immoral or don't care about people. It doesn't make you more likely to kill or steal, anymore than being religious makes you less likely to do so. It just means that you aren't convinced that there is a god. The vast majority of atheists are highly educated, secular humanists who cherish and value of human life above all and subscribe to high standards of moral conduct. Why should that make a peson unworthy of holding public office just because they don't share a widespread belief in magic?

Excuse me? Do people honestly believe the majority deserve such a thing? As a majority, what would you need it for? W/E you can't accomplish in a 45 minute Social Studies classroom from elementary to HS, you probably won't accomplish in a month. From reading that, you've probably inferred I'm some uneducated black person who hates the world, feels unprivileged & emotionally abused by the US social system. You're wrong. I've been exposed to all cultures & I accept each one. I was raised with & by the majority, & my best friends are of the majority, even though I am a 16 year old "black" female. I think a White History month would be the most ignorant addition to the US holiday chart.. & would do nothing but increase the racial tension between minorities and the majority. My ? is, why do white people feel the need to have their own "month" & "clubs" in school? Is it possible to be SO ungrateful? I'm could be just as lost as some of you right now..so enlighten me.

The fact is that if the other sub-cults had the power to change the Bible from the Catholic version they woulda. What the Jewish prophets wrote has nothing to do with the Bible you hold in your hand. The Jewish prophets and apostles wrote that Jesus was the son of god alright. But not the god "you" think.
Until the issue of the murder of Abel is legally addressed, and you admit collective responsibility, as a decendant of Cain, man will continue to die.
That is what "forgive me of my sin" means. Nothing else.
Please spare me of your sub-versions. I have heard them all and then some.

are a matter of personal taste? For example, I asked this question yesterday over in the music section:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylc=X3oDMTE1MmI4N2IyBF9TAzIxMTU1MDAxMTgEc2VjA2Fuc19ub3QEc2xrA3N1YmplY3Q-;_ylv=3?qid=20071107185257AAQZkey
And look at all the thumbs down to everyone's answers! How could anyone give a thumbs down to something that has no right or wrong answer, only personal preference? I always put in a disclaimer saying that it's not me!

What is more important between these two: the Church or the Bible?

My sister recently lost a baby she had hoped to adopt, and has talked about going back to church in hopes it will help her heal. Seems to me like a "quick-fix"solution, no different or better than taking some meds. Do you think that a significant percentage of the church-going population goes because they feel empty, needy, or guilty? Isn't that the same as smoking pot to feel happier? Or drinking? And don't tell me that those are self-destructive: church can be every bit as destructive to the self you were before you went there.

the jews have waited a long time for their upcoming prophet after prophet moses a.s and prophet Zackariah a.s because it was written in the Torah..

they feel very disappointed when the prediction of prophet Zackariah that a son will born turn them down..because Mary was born instead of Isa a.s... so when Isa a.s was given birth by Mary the virgin mother couple years later, and become a prophet, the jews reject him..and ACCORDING TO CHRISTIAN BELIEVE, he end his life being crucified..

so, ever think that his first objective being a prophet is to deliver the words of god? but then rejected by jews? and in the same time he has his own followers..

so then, by letting himself to be crucified, does it mean that he let his teaching to be endless? because from what I knew, he always being tortured after get caught by the infidels,..so he don't have time to preach to his followers?

so, as the conclusion, will there ever be possibilities that he not willingly to be crucified? :)

How can something that dies bring forth anything but plain putrefaction? Was Jesus abusing the ignorance of his followers? Or he didn't know any better himself?
John 12:24 "...Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit."

I ask this because in my religion, the gods aren't all knowing and all powerful and all that stuff. I can't blame the gods for everyone, nor expect them to fix everything because they can't. I've noticed the whole "amputee" thing and miricle questions and I wonder, if they didn't claim god was ALL powerful, would it make thier relgion a little more paletable?

My father in law does not play golf. He likes to do things around the house, but he has every tool known to man.

My grandmother is in her 80's. I got her a bathrobe last year that she loves. She has slippers. Not sure what she would like. She has everything.

See my predicament! Any ideas? Thanks!
