I don't really think so. Women are intelligent and have a lot to offer and they can't do that if they are quiet and walking two paces behind a man. Only rednecks and trailer trash like women who stay in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant.

I'm sure it depends on the man. If he wants to always be right, and doesn't like to learn from others or get input from others on decisions, perhaps he would appreciate a silent woman. But a man who is open to new ideas and not threatened by others' opinions should be fine with it.

When I was 16 I ran away from home to live on the streets. I broke my piggy bank and took with me 10$ I had saved up. I then met a man who I thought would save me. Our relationship ended 10 years later in divorce after 10 years of abuse, torture and hate. His philosophy was that a woman was like a vase, an object, a pretty decoration that you can stik your **** into. I am now a strong woman, a femenist and a holocaust denier. Women are not objects, we are people with feelings, needs and hormonal imbalances.

If that is their attitude towards women, they are not considered a gentleman.
Any man who thinks a woman should be seen and not heard is a pig.
I know, because I am a man...I just like the cute avatar!

Well, you can't blame the guy if the woman happens to be imprudent.
If that is not the case, well the guy has a problem and in these times that is referred to as mysoginia.

It's my opinion that it really depends on the man. Men who are smart, men who are confident about themselves, men who feel like they have nothing to prove....those men are usually attracted to a woman who's smart and engaging and says what she thinks. On the other hand, there are plenty of men out there who have problems with their own self-image, or they always have to feel smarter than the woman they're with, they can't stand to be contradicted, etc....wimpy guys are far more likely to love a silent woman.

No, I want a woman who knows when it is best to speak up and when it is best to keep quiet. Most people don't want silent arm candy, nor do they want someone who runs their mouth when they don't know what they are talking about. If you can add to the conversation, speak up, but don't feel like you always have to be saying something.

well I have learned that to be the strong silent type in public with your man does help them look "better" in others eyes... a little 1950ish but if you love him... it's OK to have him take the spotlight like that.

No. All gentlemen repect a woman for her perspective and intelligence, but remember we all (man & woman) have two ears and one mouth so we can listen twice as much as we speak.
