I go every 6 weeks for a trim and my hairdresser does a short head massage whilst washing my hair. It's absolutely out of this world. In fact I go off into my own little world and have to tell her NOT to talk to me whilst she is doing it!

About every 6 weeks. Usually on impulse, without making an appointment. I don't know why, but hairdresser's mirrors are so unforgiving. I hate sitting there and looking at my floppy cheeks and wrinkles, but I prefer short to long hair. So, needs must.

It dependsbut not very often, I cut my own hair because they NEVER do it how you want at a hairdressers. You ask for a trim and they take off three inches, you tell them no layers, so they layer it. I always start by asking the hairdresser how she is and are they having a good day, what they did the night before, go out with the boyfriend or watch a film etc. If they say they've had an argument or something along those lines. I make an excuse and leave, cos I just know I'll end up like Kojak or Yul Brenner. Know what I mean?
They charge way to much, I mean £15 for a dry cut and you're only in 5 mins, then they expect a tip and you have to go home to level it up anyway!

I haven't been able to go to a salon in a long time. I can't
stretch the income that far anymore. But I go to a female
barber who does families and that includes children. She
charges the bargain price of only $5.00 and has a little shop
all her own. And she does a good job, judging from my watching her cut others besides me. She's told me that she's
had people switch to her, because they were tired of 'chop
jobs' in the chain salons. And I know that from my own ex-
periences. So I either cut my own hair when I am not up to
par and don't feel like going out, or I let her trim up my hair.
And when I go, it's usually every two months. There was a
time I would go every Saturday for a shampoo and set. My
that was a very very long time ago. When people used rollers
every night. Then I had to start spacing my appts. further
apart as there were two children to clothe and feed. It came
down to once a month and that was mainly to get a cut and
blow dry. And now that I'm retired, it's usually once every two
months. But I have gone as long as a year, cutting and styling
my own hair. But now it's harder to be ambidextrous and
I don't have the same mirror set up I used to, to see all of the
angles. So I do the best that I can, when it needs it. Now I'm
spiking the top and keeping short sides. And I need to get
back in to her shop to fix the back at the hairline. There's only
so much I can reach LOL.

The last time I paid £20 to have a re-style and had to sort it out when I got home coz there were long bits where there shouldn't have been! I do Tc's every couple of months or so with the trimmer on a number 2 or 3, I cut my own hair now and it looks better than they do at the hairdressers....at least I get it cut the way I want it doing not how they think it should be done! I also cut our daughters' hair coz she hates going to the hairdressers. She has a trim every 6-8 weeks coz her hair grows really quickly. We wouldn't be able to afford the prices they charge for us all to go. I once went to a hairdressers and the girl who cut my hair was a trainee. I know they have to practise but not on me lol. She made a right mess of it and it had to be done again by one of the other girls. I've bought proper hairdressing scissors and they do the job just fine.

Not as often as I should. Maybe once every 6 months. My mom goes once a week to have her hair done though. She's had the same hairdresser for 45 years now! That must be some kind of record.

I go about every two months. I usually trim my own bangs a little in between time.I get off work at 7 in the morning, and most shops around here don't open until 9 or 10.

Every 6 weeks. If for nothing else its definitely worth it to have the great head massage whilst having my hair washed. If I could afford it I would have my hair done daily for that reason alone

I was going every 6 to 8 weeks to maintain a short style, but now I am letting it grow so I don't have to go the hairdressers anymore. I like doing it myself.

I just go whenever I need a cut or something special for a night out. I don't think all this trimming every few weeks makes much difference.

i don't. can't afford it, but i can trim my own hair (mid back to waist length & naturally curly) my best friend from childhood has her cosmetology training & degree so if i want a massage or trim i just ask her.
:D i figure why pay so much that i really can't spare to get done what i or my friend can do. besides i trust her not take 5 inches off when you explicitly tell the hairdresser "take this much off, thats all!!!" and they do indeed take 5 inches off. yeah..i DON;T go to the hairdresser cause i WANT my hair long. *L*
